This is a photograph my dad had cut out of the newspaper a few years back. This was taken about the same time as he had made the channel crossing. The large ships right on the beach are LST's, landing ships. The tiny trucks driving off are similar to his truck which should give you an idea of how large those ships are. This is about five days into the initial landing, dad said it was as if you could walk from England to France hopping from boat to boat.
