Moment in Kanto History! In the late 19xx, a criminal organization known as the Rocket Gang ruled the Criminal underworld.Led by the former Viridian City gym leader; Giovanni, the group launched a criminal offensive all over the Kanto region. From the mystical mt.moon, to the sleepy town of Lavender, to Kanto's tech giant; Silph Co, the mafia's grasp on Kanto seem all but impregnable. But that all changed when they're path crossed with the legendary trainer, Red. One after another, members fell to this prodigy's overwhelming might. Even their boss Giovanni was no match for the trainer's battle prowess. Final defeat at his home turf, Giovanni disbanded the Rocket gang and disappeared. Even though the group disappeared from Kanto, people became uneasy about the power vacuum. This fear became more prevalent with the disappearance of Red.

In response to the public's concern, The Pokemon league put into effect a new program known as Project 514, with the goal of helping trainers become strong enough to combat any threats that appear. One such change is the composition of a Gym leaders team. Meanwhile Oak is helping on his part by gathering Pokemon outside of the traditional starters given to trainers. I turned off the tv. ("To become strong, huh. If that the case I better get started.")

I put on the clothes I got from that girl. A black bodysuit and matching gloves, green short jacket and skirt with ivy pattern on them, green and black running shoes, and green headband. I looked in the mirror and stared at my red haired doppelganger, both our green right eye scanning with each other. I grabbed my gym bag and Pokegear and left only a note saying two words- I'm off.

Pallet Town. The beginning point for most trainers starting their journey. Home of the champion and the Viridian Gym leader.

I headed over to my destination- Professor Oak's Lab. As I passed by, I was getting dirty looks from a couple people. I could pick up what they were saying."

I made it to the lab. I pushed the door open and walked over to the far end of the lab and standing there was Professor Oak's grandson; Blue Oak. Right next to him was a familiar light pastel green haired trainer. It was Rhea. She was no longer in the work outfit we once wore, but a light pink red cardigan sweater with a flame pattern on the hem over a white dress, a matching red bow around her neck and a pair of bracelets. She look at me with her blue eyes and waved at me.

"Epona Korilupe," Blue greeted me, "glad you made it. Now before we begin let me ask you a quick question- Are you a boy or a girl?"
"I'm a girl."
"Isn't this question pointless? It is written in her folder."
Blue shook his head, "I used to think that way too, but you would be surprised how important that question is. Now then." He walked over and handed us each a flip phone like device and some poke ball, "These are the latest models of the Pokedex. You'll be assisting my grandpa in his Pokemon research. To get you started on your journey, we will be giving you a starter along with five poke balls. Now since Rhea was the first to arrive, she'll be the one to go first to choose," He gestured over to a box filled to the brim with different PokeBalls." choose one." She walked over and sorted through the box and pulled out a Poke ball with a water droplet sticker and a flag of Hoenn on it. She tossed it in the air and a beam shot out of the ball. As the light faded and stood there a mudkip.

Rhea's eyes lit up with glee, "A mudkip! I wasn't expecting a Hoenn starter Pokemon to be one of the choices."
"We got this little guy from a breeder in the Hoenn region. Now," He looked at me, "It's your turn."

I walked over and pulled out a Love Ball with a skull and cross bone on it. I tossed it and out came a blue horned rabbit. It was a female Nidoran.
"Nidoran."
"Now that one a farfetch'd one." Blue replied
I looked at him in confusion, "What do you mean?"
"Well, that one came up to me with a Love Ball in its mouth."
"I see." (where did it get a love ball?")
"Now that we chose both our Pokemon," Rhea slid away from us, "Let's battle. Let's go Mudkip."

Mudkip ran right in front of her and took a battle stance

I'm no stranger to surprises, but I'm usually the one doing the the surprising. Plus it be a good way to familiarize myself with this Pokemon.

"...just like old times." Blue replied, "The battle between Rhea Destini from Goldenrod City and Epona Korilupe of Medali Town will begin. The battle over when either side Pokemon is unable to battle," He raised his hands up "And began."
"Use tackle." Mudkip rammed into nidoran and knocked her back.
"Nidoran, retaliate with scratch." I watched as the poison rabbit ran over and raked her claws across the blue axolotl."
Tackle. Mudkip tackled her again.
"Growl." the nido let out a fierce growl.
"What a weak move like that's gonna do. Tackle." Mudkip tackled her again. Instead of just getting pushed back, the nidoran started to glow purple. A purple blush appears on their blue. "Damnit. Mudkip use growl."
"Scratch attack."
Mudkip growled at Nidoran and caused their muscles to loosen up.
"Scratch."
"Tackle."

It went back and forth for a bit, but in the end Mudkip lost all of it strength to the poison and collapse to the ground

"Wait,what?!"
"And the win goes to Epona Korilupe."
She recalled Mudkip back into their ball, "You really got lucky with that poison point. If it wasn't for that ability I would have won."
"Probably." I mean poison point is partly the reason I won it. I mean had a potion just in case. So it would probably been the same
"Well I best toughen this little guy up so you no matter how. Next time we meet, I will win.

"Now hold on" She, "Before you go I need to tell you something. As you know Kanto is still recovering what happened when the Rocket Gang were running rampant. There are also other gangs coming out the woodworks trying to take Giovanni's throne. As such people here are on edge. So be careful and try not to push yourself. Also report to your therapist."

Rhea flashed him and gave him the thumb up.
I nodded my head "Understood." We walked out the door and headed down toward the first route.

I grabbed their folders and looked over at them, "Thirteen huh…hard to believe they were involved with something like that three years ago." I looked at a photo of me, my sister, my mom and dad and my grandpa, "Gramps, I hope you're right about them."



First off- This story take place during the event of gen 2. I'll be trying my best trying to imagine what the heck was going on during those times before Ethan became champion.
second- The starter for this run is Nidoran F. Reason for this being I wanted to try nidoran f. To do this I got a code from someone that swaps out the gift pokemon with it. I picked torchic as that would give the rival mudkip aka Swampert aka something with two types that a nightmare for the nido line.
