I got chosen. I felt my heart leap out with joy. I had planned this and finally I got to be on a journey. Still I’m surprised it went so well. I thought my dad would put some effort in stopping since he was dead set against me from becoming a trainer’s pokemon. Maybe he is slipping. doesn’t matter now. What matters now is going to see this journey.
We scoured route 1 for the grass. My trainer was looking for any pokemon, but I was looking for Lynx. She was the one who helped me get here and she promised she would join us.
{“Lynx,} I called out to her {“Lynx.}
{“Right here, Jewelia.”} I looked to the side and popping out of the grass was Lynx the Pidgey.
{“Lynx. Why weren’t you waiting near the entrance of Pallet town?”}
{“Didn’t want to risk getting caught by someone other than your trainer. Speaking of which where’s your new trainer”}
I led Lynx to Epona, {“This is my trainer; Epona Korilupe.”}
Lynx stared at her and {“umm…your trainer looks…dead.”}
I looked at my trainer. She does have a couple of rings around her eyes, {“She does does she, but she’s a good trainer and she probably some sort of prodigy with a good night sleep. She’ll get us far.”}
{“Or collapse from being tired…still I can probably help with that.”}
I felt heart skipped beat {“So you’ll join.”}
Lynx shrugged {“Eh, sure.”}
I ran up to her and gave Lynx a big hug. I led her to my trainer.
“Now what should I get,” I gently tapped my trainer on the leg. She looked down and saw Lynx. She looked at her nonchalantly and tossed a Poke ball at her, “That will do, I guess.”
{“Another nice day, another treasure hunt on route 2, ”} I looked at my haul, (“Now if only the haul was nice.”)
It's a routine for me. I leave my comfy little nest and see if I can find something to treat my eyes to when I wake up in the morning, only to end up with a whole lot of nothing. Sure, some of it is a little bit useful, but in the end it's not a treasure.
I looked at the Virdian Forest. This was just one of my problems. There were many bug types of pokemon and my typing makes a punching bag for them while the chu’s would make me into a target for their thundershock practice if I’m not too careful. (“If only I had a trainer.”)
{“A potion.”} I felt my fur stand up. I ran back and saw a Nidoran leaving my nest and in her paws was my potion. I jumped right in front of her and locked eyes with her {“A purrloin.”}
{“Oi, oi. What are you doing with my potion?”}
{“Yours? Miss….}
{“It Felinda?”}
{“Felinda. Why do you have it in a trash pile?”}
I felt my cheeks burning up under my fur {“Trash. Those are my treasures. “) I put my paw on her, (“Listen, you look young, so I doubt you can understand the value of such things. For example, I found old comics books, wooden sculptures discarded by frustrated artists unable to see their values.”
{“Including the bad romance novels and the Copies of ET video games.”}
I shook my head, “Oh no. Those are used for kindling for the winter.”
She looked at me in confusion, “But you're not a fire type.”
{“True, but I found a lighter that looks like a Pez Dispenser.”} I heard a scream coming from my nest and saw a buneary leap out of my nest, holding his hand in pain and the reason why made my fur turn completely white. My home was set ablaze. I frantically searched the grass to find a single water type Pokemon, but alas there wasn't a single water type to spare a drop.
“Pidgy, use sand attack to put out the fire,” I heard a stoic voice shout. I watched as a pidgey flew over and sent a wave of sand toward the fire and smothered the life out of the infernal beast.
I walked over to sand and dug up charred remains. Pictures, paintings and cards were damaged beyond recognition, carving forms were turned to charcoal, Old game consoles were turned into a melted mesh of plastic and metal.
{ “My treas….” }I stared at Buneray, restraining the urge to turn him into a skin rug, {“You what did you do to my treasure?”}
{“I don’t know! I just picked up a fez dispenser and tried to see if there was candy left and ended up getting my hand roasted. If any it your fault for keeping something like that”}
My train of thought crashed. The reason for my treasure destruction was because of one of my own. I was so dazed that I didn’t notice the Poke Ball sailing toward me.
Viridian Forest. I heard stories about it from my mother. Every 10 years, a child is born with mystical powers. She told me it almost convinced my dad to leave that cave. I don’t know if it is real or just a fairytale, but the fact he almost left sounds even more unbelievable.
Lynx stirred up fierce wind toward the scatterbug and sent it flying. {“I love this forest. Its so relaxing and peaceful.”}
{“That,”} Lopgoshi the buneary chimed in, {“And almost everything here is a punching bag.”} she flashed him a cheeky smile.
{“Speak for yourself, kid} Felinda the purrloin bemoaned, {“I’m weak to everything that
{“Hey, I’m not a kid. I’m 12 year old.”}
{“So you're one year younger than me and Lynx?”} I replied.
{“...What about you Felinda? How old are you?”}
{“It's rude to ask a lady about her age,”}Felinda answered, {“That's all a kid like you need to know.”}
{“Usually when someone say kid to someone, They’re old as heck.”}
Felinda stared at him as if she was about to pounce on him. I decided to step in, {“...whatever. I don’t need to give out information to a weak looking ragdoll that burn my place down.”}
Lopgoshi a scowl appeared on his face {“Well if someone didn’t collect flammable garbage and a lighter in the first place, you still have a home.”} The two arguments continued to escalate. It wasn’t a few days and already there was in-fighting.
Epona walked over and pulled out their Poke ball and recalled Lopgoshi and Felinda, “Alright, lets go. The sooner we reach the exit, the sooner we get to Pewter City.”
I let out a sigh of relief,{ “Thank Arceus. For a moment I thought it was going to get messy.”I noticed my friend had puzzle look on her face, “Something on your mind, Lynx.”}
{“I don’t know. It just Epona seem to be too calm about what happened so far.”}
I stared at her in confusion {“Too calm?”}
{“It just she reacted to that as if it was normal for her.”}
I shrugged {“Maybe she’s a veteran.”}
{“Probably…still I can’t help but feel like something off.”}
{“Listen, Oak wouldn’t have chosen her if she was dangerous nor would Blue have given her the Pokedex, Poke Ball, or me.”}
{“I…I hope your right.”}
{“Not hope, I am right.”}
We made our way through the forest maze. It was easy to traverse. Compared to my home, this place felt more like a straight path forward. Soon enough, the north route 2 gate was in sight.
“Hey, kid,” We turned around and sitting in a tree came a guy wearing an outfit that screamed alien exterminator. They jumped down and pulled out a little “How about a little battle?”
“Pidgey,” Lynx flew in front of her, with a confident grin on her beak.
“Going for a type advantage. You're not dumber than you look,” he mocked her as he pulled out a poke ball and tossed it. What came out made us sweat. For the pokemon he sent out was not caterpie, weedle, scatterbug or any of their first stage evolution. It was Butterfree.
THe giant butterfly stared at Lynx with a menacing grin, “Well, welly, well. Another chicken to pluck.”
Lynx stared at Epona with a nervous look on their face. Epona stoically shouted, “use gust.”
Lynx hesitated at first, but then flapped her wings and launched the strongest gust she could.
“Confusion,” the bizzare looking trainer ordered. The butterfly eyes glowed and a field of psychocentric energy surrounds her. I felt myself wincing as Lynx screamed in pain.
“Gust!” Lynx launched another gust of wind at the butterfree but like before it did little damage.
“Confusion!” Confusion surrounded her and shocked her through her nervous system. Lynx fell to the ground, panting wildly, “Now, do what you want.”
Butterfree floated Lynx and grabbed her wings with her mind and pulled them with force. She screamed in pain as struggled to get free. I looked at my trainer to see if I could do something, but what I saw frightened me. She was calm…too calm. Almost mechanical. (“Why isn't she doing anything? Does she have a plan or does she not care what happened to…No time to think about that. I need to save Lynx.”)
I ran toward the butterfree and scratched it in their face. I was about to attack them again, but they quickly pinned me down with confusion. I felt my mind going through a windstorm. Any words that it was saying was muffled and my vision became clouded.
(“Was this it. Was I going to die? I trained under them to withstand these type of attack, I just started my journey and I was going to die on day one.”) my mind started to replay the scene of Lynx’s torment and then the thoughts of not only her dying corpse, but also of Felinda’s and Lopgoshi’s and others she would and have killed. I felt my blood boiling and fire in my mind raging.
{“I WON’T LET YOU WIN!”}
I broke out of his grip and lunged forward and tackled the butterfree to the ground. I then launched a series of scratch attacks.

{“Jewelia, snap out of it!”}
I came back to my senses. I looked at the butterfree underneath and fell back in horror. Their faces were covered in gashes, blood dripping out of them. But that wasn’t the worst of it. One of their left right was damaged, rendered useless. My mind swirls with panic, but they slowly become hazy fog as I slip into a deep slumber.
The pain in my wing was numb by the bewilderment as my mind processed what happened. Jewelia almost died but she broke free and not only defeated them, but had also mauled them. Then was her expression on her face, especially the iris of her eyes. They shifted from a vibrant crimson to a glowing lifeless blue. She wasn’t fighting as if out of rage and more like she was programmed just to kill.
Epona pulled out Jewelia’s Love Ball and recalled Nido. She still had the same expression, but there was the twinge of something.
Before I could process it, that trainer spoke out, “What did you do to that Nidoran?” Epona ignores his question“Typical. Casually not caring for your Pokemon or if they kill another. Only winning at all cause. I wouldn’t expect anything more from a former rocket gang member.” }
(“She can’t b-be a rocket gang member. Why woul-would Oak give a…”) exhaustion washed over me as I was recalled back into my Poke Ball.
Notes:
That Butterfree was a monster and the bases for the The Mad Vespa. Lynx lost a life to that one and almost did Jewelia. Thank goodness for RNG. Just goes to show you not to let your guard down in a ROM hax.
I caught Lopgoshi on route 2 north side and Felinda on the south side.
The catch orders are
Lynx the timid Pidgey on route 1, Hiro the nidoran m on route to the pokemon league, Felinda on route 2, Pin the weedle in Viridian forest, and then Lopgoshi on route 2 northside. I didn't include Hiro or Pin because I boxed them soon after due having Jewelia.

{“Jewelia, snap out of it!”}
I came back to my senses.
Before I could process it, that trainer spoke out, “What did you do to that Nidoran?” Epona ignores his question“Typical. Casually not caring for your Pokemon or if they kill another. Only winning at all cause. I wouldn’t expect anything more from a former rocket gang member.” }
