Paul Hudson is an anthropomorphic J-3a Hudson locomotive with a recessive gene that gives him streamlined shrouding in the style similar to what Henry Dreyfuss put on the locomotives in real life. He is currently serving as an infantryman in Chanticleer Bluth's 104th Composite Unit, with a talent for running very quickly, which he used as a member of his high school track team. Having lead the Vanderbilt High Commodores to victory at track meets, Paul earned the nickname "The Express" due to his speed. He's moved from leaping over hurdles to jumping over obstacles to deliver messages to rear command whenever field telephone lines get cut or when radio traffic is jammed or intercepted.
Paul's father, Ward Hudson, is an engineer on board the Toon York Central's fast freight and passenger train "The Pacemaker" that runs between Toon York and Chicago. With his father away so often, Paul became rather independent, but his mother encouraged his athletic pursuits. Paul's father wants him to join the Toon York Central, even though increasing dieselization of the network may mean a decrease in openings there.
Like other Toons, Paul and his family were affected by the Disney/Separatist takeover of Cartoonia that occurred between June 6th and 10th, 1955. Paul and his mother were placed under house arrest to coerce his father into hauling military trains for Disney. The arrival of Republic forces, specifically the 212th Attack Battalion, saved him from further hardship. Like many other young men did after the Battle of Cartoonia, Paul enlisted in the 104th so that he could take the fight to Disney itself. Paul's father, who had worked on troop trains during World War 2, perfectly understood this. In his downtime, Paul likes to play card games with the other men of the 104th, and he even befriended my OC Frank Torres, as the two of them are both children of railroad workers.
