what do you use for your blanket texture? is it just one of the papers in sai?

I used a grunge concrete texture, actually. You can find a lot of them available for download online, I like to use www.cgtextures.com. It's free as long as you only need to download less than a certain amount per day.

The detail in the background on this is immaculate... did you draw the blinds and everything by hand?

I modeled the background in Maya and rendered out some different layers to get a more toony effect.
