Ok, this takes some explanation. I figured out a solution to my issue with Dusk and the cybernetics thing and in the process invented all new lore for him and his race.

Dusk is a member of a race of beings that were created by a glitch in the script code upholding his world's reality. They are real, alive, corporeal beings and at the same time digital anomalies in reality. injury and nearing death causes glitching in and out of reality. Full death would erase the individual from reality. What's interesting about this is it resolves my dilemma of his "wraith" form, as using too much of his abilities can still cause that now, as his form changing makes sense as his existence isn't exactly as set in stone as other people's.

They have some abilities too though.They do not need a cell or a computer and can pull up holo screens and can access the global net mentally. Then there's Dusk. There's all the psionic, supernatural stuff with him, which has reasons but no spoilers XD but all that is even more plausible now.

The thing that saved him from death also altered code around him, rendering him powerfully psionic and pissing off the dead. These creatures sometimes worry about whether they have a soul. Dusk now knows that he does but wishes like he'll he didn't XD
