So, a few things I'm doing here...

First off, Mikhu here is going to become my title character. He's an adopted son of Lafitte's that she's grooming to be her eventual replacement. As such, he's taken her name and goes by Mikhu Lafitte or Lafitte the Younger. I'll be writing a bit that explains his background in more detail later.

The other character is Molly. She's a Hijra, or third gender (what the kids call dick girls when they're looking up their pornographies) from a distant race of monkey-like people. She was bought as a slave by Lafitte when she was a child and named Molly. Lafitte wasn't actually interested in a slave, though: she has a long running fascination with monkeys and when she saw the little girl she had to have her. As a pet. All the same, the pet still grew up to be a member of the crew, though she still wears the collar that marks her as Lafitte's pet. She was also Mikhu's only friend his own age growing up.

So, yeah... I've been wanting to portray myself as a squirrel again. It's always been "my" species. Lafitte is a fun character but she was never really supposed to be me and it was bothering me that I wasn't really representing for my species out here. I also wanted to have a character that was more directly me. That dressed like me, acted like me and looked like me. For instance, you might notice that he's fat. He more or less has my body type.

This is also building up some context for my characters. I want them to have a world and friends and people to interact with. Here's one step in that direction.
