Yeah that's what I read that it was absurdly hard. Japanese Haikus are longer than ours due to some difference that I don't yet understand. That's kind of why I like writing Haiku, because it is nearly impossible and to just be able to express something within those parameters is impressive even without incredible wording. It's interesting and somewhat silly.
I enjoy reading Haiku .. they are designed to only paint a partial picture of the subject and to leave the rest to the imagination..
Years ago I wrote some seasonal mid-verse ya Haiku with the kireji (cutting word) at the ending of the first phrase.
I should PM them to you to see what you think, I am my own worst critic and have a hard time deciding if they are any good. :)
