I’ve seen the face of God.
I see it in the hopeless.
I see it in the restless.
I see it in my the face of many,
but the face of God shows perfectly in the face of a child.
The face of a child shows pain,
It shows tomorrow and it shows yesterday
It shows innocence and perfection,
But most of all it shows the present.
I have watched the ever changing face of God.
The belief that god lives among us isn’t hard,
Rather it is evident,
God isn’t something that is tangible,
God isn’t something that war is fought over,
God isn’t something that brings people together,
God isn’t something that makes the day better,
God isn’t something that help the hopeless or the blind,
God isn’t something that takes all sides,
God isn’t something, but
Everything that God isn’t, he is.
He is an idealism that gives hope,
He is a power that brings together nations,
He is faith and power,
He is light and he is good.
You may not believe in God,
You may say there is no such thing as God,
The existence of God is balanced
For God is a notion for a better future.
Look at our present.
Look into the face of every living thing.
What do you see, what can’t you see.
Tell me of pain,
Tell me of tribulation,
Tell me of everything that has happened,
But you can not tell me that they do not all look the same
They all show the present
They all show the face of God
They all show truth and love
They all show hate and despair
They all show life.
I have seen the face of God
It was not in a bible
It was not in a church
It was not in religion
It was not in one city
It was not in one person
It doesn’t matter whether you believe or not,
Whether God exists or not is not important,
What is important is the present
What is important is children
What is important is life
What is important is the world
I may or may not believe,
That is up to your opinion, but
I have seen the face of God
And I will never forget it.
I see it in the hopeless.
I see it in the restless.
I see it in my the face of many,
but the face of God shows perfectly in the face of a child.
The face of a child shows pain,

This poem... to this day, this poem and the inspiration behind it still make me cry. This poem is the pride of everything I have ever written and I hold it very dear to my heart. I look back on it today, 3 years after I wrote this, two days after I had graduated from high school and was about to begin college. It still means so much to me and I love it so much. My only wish is that I could find the height of inspiration, which I had for this, to write yet another that I can pride myself this highly...
