Here is a collage of drawings/sketches I made for the main 6 characters in my Owner's Box story, which I'm starting to pick up more now that progress in VV is stagnating. I feel very proud of these, because I feel my anatomy work is the best it's ever been in these, and it took a while to get right.
Melanie, on the furthest left, is the main character. Growing up in Portland, she moved to Miami to make more of a name for herself in journalism. While initially overwhelmed by the loud, rich, and debauched nature of her compatriots, she ends up losing herself in it, and having affairs with many of the other characters.
Howard, to the right of her, hails from Boston, and is currently an acclaimed and widely known sports commentator, known for his work with the Miami Wildcats. With his former relationship with Trent holding him back from his newfound relation with Melanie, his disaffection hides behind his charismatic persona.
Trent, the third one, is a sly and manipulative alligator, always eager to cut some corners and pull a stunt for a story. He's a man behind the scenes, and he takes full advantage of this. While on good terms with Melanie, you have to wonder how long that will last?
Butch is the Wildcats' star player, a determined and intimidating silverback gorilla. Despite this, he is a very strong silent type. You could hardly hear a word out of him unless he's with his girlfriend, Gabriella.
Gabriella is a very vibrant and outspoken Toucan, who moved from Cuba to Miami. She is both Butch's biggest supporter and his fiercest critic. She owns a strip club just outside of the Wildcats Stadium, which the gang frequent.
Tank is the larger-than-life T-rex who has somehow done it all, and refuses to quit. He is known for his loudness, haughtiness, ambition, and volatility. Predicting any scenario with him involved is like trying to predict the success of a Hail Mary pass. After an affair with Melanie, his reputation, and legal standing, and his personal empire could be in jeopardy.
I've been working on many character drawings lately, and not just for Owner's Box. Expect some more for the Vincent's Virtues story soon!
Edit: just to clarify, this story takes place during the late 1980s, which explains some peculiar fashion choices. Also, I’m an idiot who forgot to completely color in Melanie
