Oh no...at least it sounds like they had each other for a long time. You guys just need to remember all the happy times with her, those'll be there forever.
I can understand (to some extent) your and especially his pain. Not more than two weeks ago, my Husky Aleksey had a gastric volvulus which means his stomach twisted over on itself. I almost lost him...I had to pay a $1500 deposit on the surgery which I wouldn't have been able to do had my mom not loaned me the last little bit of her own savings. And it wasn't a sure thing, it was major abdominal surgery and the ended up removing his spleen for bleeding. He wouldn't have been the first animal friend I've lost, but he would've been the first true companion I'd have lost. He's only two years old and even in that short a time, we've become more or less inseparable, and the frustration and pain I felt, and the panic...it must be close to the pain he's feeling now, and I couldn't live with myself like that. I hope you both will be okay, the pain will fade in time though not completely.
*hugs* Think about the good times.

I too had a Black Labrador once named Majesty, she was the best puppy I could ever imagine. But about a year into having her, she grew sick with parvo, and it hurt even more that even though we tried our hardest to care for and heal her, she was lost overnight during a blackout. Me and my sister were bawling as she slipped away, knowing we did all we could. As a previous user said, remember the good times, but also take time to show people and pets alike your love and appreciation, you'll never know when they'll be gone for good. *hugs*
