My name is Hope de Spara, and I'm just another student at Seawind University. Or I try to be, anyway. Things went a little off the rails at the start of the semester when I tried a guided meditation with my roommate Crystal and accidentally awoke the latent powers of an ancient eldritch horror within myself, forever altering my body and fate.
That's probably a lot to take in, it was for me too. Let me rewind a bit and start from the beginning. You've probably heard of my parents.
My mom, Zora de Spara, found out she was the chosen one of some ancient Babylonian prophecy as a teenager and spent her life fighting ghosts and stopping eldritch horrors from setting foot in our world. My dad, Victor, used to be a vampire lord and one of her nemeses, but… well, you know that part.
Fast forward a decade. Mom's saved the world five times, once from dad, and died twice along the way. Now they're working together against their biggest foe yet, Rlframgeth the Ceaseless, a god-like entity of unfathomable power trying to enter our reality.
It succeeded, partially, but while it was still in a weakened transitional state mom and dad slayed it. And then… living up to its name, it reincarnated. The reincarnation is traditionally supposed to be directed by the subconscious desires of its cultists to give it a properly horrifying and dangerous physical form, but there were no cultists left.
Mom and dad were the only two souls left in that temple. And there was only one thing on their minds, the thing they'd been talking about and planning before Rlframgeth started making trouble: they wanted to start a family. They wanted a baby.
And so Rlframgeth the Ceaseless, the colossal building-sized abomination, became a swirl of cosmic energy that then took the form of a tiny human baby. Me.
And for the first twenty years of my life, I thought I was a perfectly ordinary human. Then Crystal did her stupid guided meditation to help me get in touch with my inner self, and now I look like this.
But I don't have time to worry about that. Midterms are coming up next week, Crystal's gone missing, and I think I might be gay?
