in my fantasy novel thingy, broadly speaking each species is situated in a specific area of the world, with distinct cultures, magic, weapons, technology and language.

most places are still quite basic and have no concrete features, but among the few i have thought up i know that i want the avians to represent a sort of "trader-race" with unique technology that incorporates magic associated with the sky, such as magical-lightning.

So while thinking on them i came up with a concept for their (or one of their) weapons, which uses a magical crystal, which when shattered lets out a focused "arc" of lightning. the bullet is used as a guide that the lightning follows, as without something to direct the arc when the crystal is shattered, the lightning is extremely unpredictable.
The design of the rifle is based on the martini-henry, among others.

I will hopefully have some more ideas for their homeland and other aspects of their life, as i ponder more on it, but i never really was an apt wordsmith so it will likely take a long while.
At the moment their homeland incorporates a series of "floating" islands, that only their people, or other flightworthy folk are able to reach.

The current names seen in the above picture are mostly placeholders, though i don't dislike them, don't be surprised if they change in the future.
