(We're already a week in our AUvent Calendar with Day 7. And it looks like we find ourselves in an AU based on the Kirby franchise with its versions of Kat and Ben. Before getting into the story, there will be some spoilers for Kirby Super Star and Kirby: Planet Robobot. If you don't want to be spoiled, please step away and play the games first. Including the DS remake for the former, Kirby Super Star Ultra.)

One Winter day on the Planet Popstar, 4 figures were out for a relaxing stroll to spend a little time together. Among Bandana Waddle Dee and King Dedede, were a cat-like creature called Tac, and a cyborg-like alien named Ben Fuller. Let's get into a bit about them first though.
Tac was like others among his species, besides the blue hair and his name being pronounced differently. Being able to steal abilities, but also possessing one of his own to transform into enemies he hits (With an exception being bosses). However, he formed a friendship with the spear wielding Bandana Waddle Dee after seeing how capable he was of defending himself.
That friendship would prove key as the poor Waddle Dee fell ill one day, and no conventional medicine could cure him. Leaving Tac determined to find a cure, when he heard of a Clockwork Star called Nova who would grant any wish. Immediately, Tac headed towards The Arena where he heard that champions would get their wish granted, determined to save his best friend's life!
Once he entered with his special ability, he quickly rose to the top... Where he was confronted by Marx as his final challenge. After a tough fight, Tac came out as the champion. And made his wish to have Bandana Waddle Dee cured. A wish that was granted by Nova. Since then, the two friends have been thick as thieves.
Ben's story was different to Tac's however. The cyborg-like alien is actually an employee of the Haltmann Works Company, who at one point invaded Popstar among other planets as part of the Mechanizing Occupation Project. Despite that, Ben objected to it and voiced his protests to the former president and CEO, Max Profitt Haltmann... Before being imprisoned within a cell for his rebellion.
After the invasion was thwarted, Susie took over as president and CEO. With one of her first actions being to release Ben and hire him as an official employee after letting him see the formally mechanised planets back to normal.
Her task for the peaceful and progressive employee was to let him travel to different planets in the galaxy, and introduce technology and science to the natives who live on them. As well as convicing them how beneficial they can be in the long run, as to spread prosperity of the company itself for the right reasons.
When he came to Popstar however... He was immediately accosted by an army of Waddle Dees and other minions of its self proclaimed king, King Dedede. Before bringing him in to the castle to be interrogated by the penguin-like alien himself, as he was filled in on what happened when Popstar was invaded. (Including having some of Dedede's DNA taken to make a hostile clone to stop Kirby, who was the one who thwarted the invasion.)
However to the surprise of everyone in the throne room... Dedede was willing to let Ben speak as to why he was here. And soon found out that the cyborg-like alien was only trying to introduce technology and science to improve the lives of everyone in the long run. After he was able to share his intention... He was surprised to see the self proclaimed king would agree to such a thing with a compromise. And ultimately... It lead to Ben and Dedede spending time with each other whenever they were able to since it was part of the compromise.
The two of them ended up becoming friends and guardians (Mainly because of Dedede's tendancy to be possessed by dark forces, or the ocassional kidnapping. Yet he would ended up protecting Ben whenever he was close to being beaten in combat, something neither of them were slouches in.). But eventually... The two of them fell in love, and ended up becoming a couple.
Of course, Ben and Dedede would meet and befriend Tac via Bandana Waddle Dee. And in turn, all 4 of them would have a tight bond with each other. Even if Ben and Dedede's was more of a romantic one.
Back to the present, but both couples were holding hands as they enjoyed their Winter walk. With Bandana Waddle Dee and Ben both blushing (Maybe the former might have a crush.). While they walked however, a bright star shined above them in the sky. Reminding them of a rift... Yet they had no idea how accurate they were, or how it concerned others besides them. For now however... They would enjoy another peaceful day on the Planet Popstar.
