While the Vossen have long remained isolated from the rest of the world, there is an even more reclusive group among them, the mountain Vossen also known as Yamanari. Though they are the same as the other island Vossen they adopted and changed tp their particular environment high up in the mountains, most notably their fur color and pattern changed to blend in better and they are a bit more compact and sturdy. They hardly ever leave their mountaintops so they have limited interaction with their kin in the valleys below aside from getting supplies, but occasionally some Vossen will make the climb to seek training in unarmed combat which the Yamanari specialize in. They started living this way believing that it would bring them closer to their Runari ancestors living as close as possible to the heavens and the harsh low oxygen conditions hone their bodies. For those reasons they do most of their training at night under the light of the moons when the temperature is at it's coldest. Their different way of living and training has certainly paid off as they learned to channel their inner power in such ways that their punches and kicks can cause visible shockwaves in the air and they are capable of carving a path through solid rock with nothing but their bare hands and paws, a feat that could only be repeated by those Vossen with the air or earth elemental abilities albeit less powerful.

They do have an air of mysticism about them and there are stories going round that some Yamanari can even fly without wings, but such a thing has never been seen or proven, but they have been known to use a limited form of magic despite the fact that Vossen can't use magic due to how they've conditioned their bodies to channel that power into their attacks instead. Despite being a micro nation on the Vossen islands and having a somewhat different belief system they do occasionally act as spiritual advisors to the priests in the valley and help to determine the potential of the newly born Vossen. When a pure white Yamanari is born that person is believed to be destined for great things as they have the visage of one of the Runari who were pure white. Though they may not be true Runari every white furred Yamanari has been incredibly powerful indeed, defeating even dragons in unarmed combat and hunting down powerful demons who have managed to break into the mortal realm. Hunting down demons is their main purpose and they have developed ways to detect them entering the mortal realm no matter where on Eidon they are hiding. They have particular close ties with one of the valley clans who also hunt demons and occasionally will send one of their own to train with the Yamanari and obtain information of the whereabouts of any demons and organize a hunt. Though their ties with that clan have been damaged after a demon had managed to appear on the Vossen islands undetected and the demon was only banished after killing both heads of the clan, but their daughter would eventually play a big part in ending the demon war with the help of the entire Yamanari clan and bringing back not only the twin Goddesses but also their missing third sister. After those events the Yamanari would retreat back to their mountain to continue their persuit of ascending and becoming a Runari, though some would move to the hidden sanctuary on top of Moon's Rest mountain where one of the last Runari had remained hidden in hopes of uncoverign the secrets to becoming Runari themselves.
