What program did you use? I use PS CS3 and I can never figure out those paintery brushes a lot of artists use :(

I use photoshop CS4 but with some misc. brushes some friends gave me, I just play around with the transparencies and color pick from the resulting transparencies as I paint, to create painterly gradients that look hand painted rather than smooth.
