While cutting my lawn one morning, I stumbled upon a beautiful patch of daisies. It was unusual, as daisies don’t typically bloom in my area during the winter season. Intrigued, I decided to pick a few for a lovely bouquet. Lost in the moment and unaware of my surroundings, I reached for the flowers—only to be startled by a buzzing bee near my hand. Instinctively, I fled, trying to avoid getting stung. The whole situation felt like a scene straight out of a Hanna-Barbera cartoon, with the determined bee chasing me across the yard!
When I shared the story with my friends, they suggested it could make for a funny comic strip. Since I’m not much of a storyteller, I decided to channel the experience into art instead. I ended up creating an angry, anthropomorphic bee inspired by classic rubber hose cartoon characters from the 1920s, like Felix the Cat and Betty Boop. However, as I finished the piece, I couldn’t help but notice she resembled a "poor man’s Sonic the Hedgehog OC." Honestly, I didn’t mind—I’ve always loved Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog. In fact, a lot of the art in my gallery is inspired by him.
