I'm not sure if I want a background with this piece. I'm just not really sure...
I tried playing with colors and such to make it more true to the image on the scanner, this was as close as I could get which isn't bad but it would be nice to take a good picture haha.
Colored pencil and recycled paper. The image itself is a bit bigger but its a 8.5 x 11 scanner and this is a 9 x 12 piece.
Background ideas?
Searanox belongs to

Azurea and art belongs to me.

I love how she never forgets that Azurea's wing membranes are partially translucent, and Searanox's are black enough to blot out the sun (which he does often, in-canon). Its the little things and the nods towards the RP that really make pictures like this very special, hun.
What size is Azurea's tail tuft? It seems to grow wider or narrower sometimes... that's probably just the position, making it fluff out like that.
You're REALLY perfecting their body-types. Azurea is light, graceful, and airy looking. Whereas Searanox is wider, stockier, and we can tell just by looking probably could not fly as well as she could. I really like that you've got their manes pretty much hammered out too. Searanox's is white and simple, while Azurea's is multi-colored and complicated. All the more to yin each other's yang, right? :)
If I HAD to put a background on this, I would just say trees or grass or something. We're here to focus on them and their body language, not really where they are. This seems done, in my eyes, like I said before.

lol if every time a character wasn't at the perfect begin of the drawing they said it was floating, then the whole artist community would be having floating issues.
But then I get why it bothers you. And you can easily solve it by slamming a picture behind it. I know it's a bit blunt like that, but if that is the only problem, the easiest solution is that.

she looks so unsure somehow ... not smiling and the eye do have more life but I can't pinpoint her feeling in this one and Seranox ... he is starting to smile 0.o; a geniune smile at that and I do like how softly he is touching her like not to scare her away
for background ... I would recommend the beach since it is soft ground and bit forest in the background so there is no blue sky to take away the color from Azurea's scales and not to dark forest so Seranox's wings blend into it
