James pulled his baby son along on the sweet little sled James had ordered commissioned for his kids; each baby had his or her own, and this one belonged to his oldest son of four quadruplets, the baby pegasus anthro Bruce. Months had gone by and the babies were no longer newborns, and had grown old enough to enjoy such things as sled rides & sleigh outings with their doting parents. The children still breastfed regularly and with gusto, tended to by James's wife & their two wet nurses. Bruce giggled; he was a husky baby like his huge father, and was growing to be inquisitive & bold. James smiled fondly at his son and pulled him some more about the big manor courtyard. James let the sled rope fall and picked his baby up, setting him on his lap and playing with him, singing nursery rhymes to him starting with 'Patty Cake' & showing his son how to do the hand movements. Little Bruce giggled with delight, his eyes lighting up happily like his father's were at seeing him. Already, a strong bond had formed between the LightningSwords and their babies.
"Patty cake, patty cake, baker's man...bake me a cake as fast as you can. Very good, Brucey! Oh...it's windy, hang on, little guy." James wrapped his baby in his strong arms and wings and turned his broad back to the wind, shielding his infant from it. Instinctively, Bruce perked at it as he felt what little of it got through his father's big form, his angelic blood stirred.
"Oh...you recognize that feel, eh bud? Someday, when you're ready, daddy will teach you to fly. Haha, so cute. Whee! There, isn't that fun? See, spread your wings, like this. Oh!" James was surprised as he'd been teasing and playing, holding Bruce up in the wind briefly as he spoke to him, but the clever cherub giggled and reached out, his own baby wings copying his father's; he arched them out and they caught the wind, and James gasped as he wondered seriously for a moment.
"Brucey...watch. Like this! Yes, good boy! Okay, daddy will catch you if you fall. Hold out your wings like that. Oh my God. Brucey, you're gliding! I didn't glide till I was 2! Oh sweetheart, come here, daddy's so proud of you! Oh, my great big strong boy! Come on buddy, let's go tell your momma! Oooh, you're such a smart little lad! Mwuah!" James kissed and cuddled and praised his baby, showering the gleeful mite in praise and affection, Bruce cooed and reached up with chubby little arms, touching his father's loving bearded face as his excited dad hurriedly rushed him inside.
"Darling! Oh Lonely, come quick, my love! Brucey glided! Oh sweetie he used his wings for the first time!"
James shut the back manor doors behind him and all that could be heard was birdsong outside and the ice age wind across their rural home, as inside their luxurious abode, baby Bruce was learning along with his three siblings that he was indeed the apple of his parent's eye.
