-The locals of Redford referred to it as the "Birchwood Ambler". They seemed to regard the strange creature with a sense of respect tinged with the slightest hint of fear. As Mrs. Altmond put it, "Whenever you saw the 'Ambler, you always got a sense that it wasn't really out to hurt you, but it could if it wanted to."
After decades of sightings with no real incident, the Redford locals developed a live and let live attitude towards the Birchwood Ambler.
