(Time to Jake meeting a new opponent!)
Jake and Tech walked around the ring, studying each other. Both cat and coyote were muscular and handsome, their oiled bodies glistening in the light of the lamps illuminating the ring. Who would have thought that they would meet here for a friendly match....
A few minutes ago...
“So you're Jake Clawson, aren't you?” inquired the coyote as they met Jake at the bar. It had been three months since the cat had defeated Usagi Yojimbo in their friendly duel, and many of the beastmen had heard about it. Tech was one of them, and he was curious if the cat was as good in battle as he had been portrayed in the rabbit's stories.
“Yes. Are you Tech E. Coyote?”
“Quite right.”
The cat hummed.
“So a lot of people found out about my fight with Usagi... Well, all the better. After all, I'll be able to show off my agility again.”
Coyote sipped some Coke from the cup.
“That's it, huh? You think you can beat me? Dogs are stronger than cats, you know.”
Jake smiled.
“I don't fight for money or fame, Tech. I fight to get stronger, to learn fighting skills, and also to find mates to practice with me anytime I want.”
“Gathering a collection of training partners?” laughed the coyote, and the cat looked a little embarrassed.
“I guess I am,” he said. Tech winked at the cat.
“Don't worry, I'm ready to see if the rumors are true, but I could use a new friend too.”
And so now they walked around the ring, studying each other.
“Not a bad body, Jake. Do you work out often?” asked Tech.
“Just enough to keep in shape,” grinned the cat. “I could say the same about you. Your muscles aren't as big as Slam's, but they look strong.”
“Wow, you know Slam?” marveled the coyote. The cat laughed.
“I mean, he's a celebrity, a veteran of the ring! And I'm sure he's taught you a couple cool moves.”
“Ready to check it out?” The coyote's eyes gleamed predatory.
“Sure!” the cat replied, getting ready for his new fight.
