Impmon - Traditional
I coulda bet actual money that I posted this one already, and if I did and overlooked it repeatedly, I apologize. :P
But this one was made before the Veemon one that I just uploaded a bit ago. This one was colored with markers and a bit of gouache I think, I can't recall if I used any colored pencil for this one. I did use a pen to line it up, which isn't bad, but I think I prefer using the colored pencil for lining. I feel it fits my style better, even if it takes longer to do.
This one almost didn't get finished. I first started drawing it on a plastic composite sheet, one marketed as a fully synthetic paper. I quite loved it at first. Until the ink started smudging at the slightest provocation and the markers wouldn't blend smoothly. Turns out it was meant for an entirely different abstract form of art, not toons. And so, the piece was ruined, it could not be completed on that paper, and the pic would be lost to time as many pieces are behind the scenes in the art world. But, serendipitously, I was able to use a quilter's lamp to shine light through the bottom and effectively trace a new on on a compatible piece of paper. It was the most slap-dash process I've ever drawn something with, and this is coming from someone who exclusively drew in moving vehicles for five years. Balancing two pieces of paper on a bouncy lamp, on a surface that was both domed and concave at the same time, in different places. Yada yada blah blah, it got done, success story, fireworks, Christmas is saved. Now it hangs on a wall beside my desk. I wonder if I should start doing life sized tickle trophies like I used to do for YCHs. They do make paper big enough for it, after all. My very own IRL Wall of LOL... :3c
