Aviamorphs, or in other words, flying machine mimics, are magical creatures. They can change between three forms, depending on which one suits the situation most. The human form helps with blending oneself within the crowds. The machine form functions just like a non-sentient machine would, with difference of the latter having free will. The Ascended form is reached upon awakening the greater magical power the mimics possess deep within; the blend of a machine and a beast. A ferocious monster... or a gentle giant.

And yet, the magic has its limitations.

Machine mimics must practice the shapeshifting magic often enough, or else it'll gradually fade away and become harder to perform, for the price as high as exhausting oneself by the process. It's easy to get stuck. Such fate met Light, one of the first Aviamorphs who successfully unlocked the final form. There are still some traces of magic lingering within her, but you will rarely see her shapeshift anymore. Perhaps there's a way to revert the degradation of magic, but for now... One should request a transport service, there's only one method. And it's inefficient.

Such a brave passenger was Nate, a little fennec fox, who wished to see the Earth from a bit... higher point. But, what's this?

The fabled Sky Islands; perpetually suspended high in the air thanks to a yet undescribed, perhaps primal force. Many have seen them, recorded, photographed and studied their secrets, but no one has successfully placed their location on a map, as the islands constantly move: today over Africa, tomorrow somewhere over the Pacific... This was a lucky encounter for Light and Nate indeed.

I love the theme in general, heck, I squee internally every time I see them in videogames - especially when they're explorable. So, there!
