Santa Bucky’s childhood mirrors that of the young Santa Claus in “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus”, a classic story written by Wizard of Oz author L.F. Baum, and adapted into two popular movie versions; one a stop motion film produced by Rankin Bass/MOM Production in 1985, the other a classic animated film version produced by Mike Young Productions in 2000.
Like Baum’s version, Santa Bucky was adopted and raised by a fairy named Necile, who loved him very dearly and would end up playing a pivotal role in shaping him into the holiday figure/demigod that he becomes in his adult life.
…
My version of Necile is partially inspired by Fluttershy from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Marge Simpson from The Simpsons.😜
Along with her butterfly wings and antennae that represent her being a fairy, her striped hair is actually has a bit of a more subtle bee motif going on as well.🐝
She is also directly responsible for Santa Bucky’s love of all things sweet, especially her homemade cookies that she made for him when he was little using herbs, spices, and honey (again referring to her subtle bee motif). Later on, Santa Bucky would adapt her recipe into the famous Gingerbread Cookies that have become an iconic staple and representation for him and his holiday.😋🍪
Also, very similar to the original Baum story, one of Santa Bucky’s first ever toys was in fact a doll he made modeled after his mother, and it was an instant hit with little girls all over the world, and are still beloved even up to today. 🧚♀️❤️
