This is how the Ru'khs actually celebrate the "Gratitude Festival." The Ru'kh Gratitude Season begins on the first full moon of autumn (after the autumnal equinox), and ends with the last full moon of the harvesting season (before the winter solstice). The actual period of celebration, the festival itself, begins with the last "new" moon of season, and ends with the full. Think of it as Thanksgiving and Christmas rolled into one holiday, and celebrated pretty much in the same manner; with losts of feasting, family get togethers, honoring their ancestors, exchanging of gifts, and showing gratitude and appreciation towards each other.
