Lay & Cloud ''Abandoned National Park'' by LtDWW
~ This picture was supposed to be uploaded the other day, but I barely had enough time to save it on my PC before the screensaver activated. So it was a bit delayed. But right now, I have time to upload it on here. I was thinking of adding in some additional details but I didn't want to make this picture too... ''crowded''. That's quite ironic, because this very picture is all about an abandoned walking park at night.
[ Cloud and I have been visiting Johto in order to peek around in the Burned Tower in Ecruteak City. Well, that was our ORIGINAL plan, at least. When night fell, we stumbled upon an abandoned stone fountain amidst dozens of trees, bushes and park benches, and we both knew we would need a place to stay at for the upcoming night. There were some street lanterns in this quiet park, but they weren't active. That was fine in another sense though, as it enabled us to enjoy the star-filled night sky, as we entered the grassy area that surrounded the fountain. ''Hey! Lay!'', Cloud said, as he disappeared behind the stone water-spewing structure, ''y'know what'd be fun? Playing some Hide-and-Seek while we have the time!'' When I saw him reappear from behind the fountain, he had become a smaller-than-average Furret, sporting his signature azure-blue hair like always. ''B-But... we're looking for someplace to sleep'', I whispered back, putting one forepaw on my diaper, ''I'd like to play around here, but--'' I decided to not finish my scentence, and thought about it. Maybe killing some time by playing... wasn't such a bad idea after all. I could get in shape a little by running around for a bit! I lay on my belly in a pouncing position, which hilariously, made my diaper crinkle. ''Okay, here I come!'', I concluded, before jumping forward, running after Cloud. As we were chasing each other, we heard the cry of a Noctowl from one of the surrounding imposing trees. ''Did you hear that?'', I asked, stopping for a second, ''Is that Noctowl praying on us?'' ''Maybe he's come to watch over us?'', Cloud replied, ''...prolly the latter'' ''Yeah, probably the latter'' We could indeed spot two glowing yellow eyes from the tree in question, which occasionally rotated clockwise and then back to their original position.
''I am watching over you, young travellers'', we heard a low but calm voice say, ''...what brings you here, in the darkest of night? Although I see you are enjoying yourselves, do you... perhaps seek a shelter? If so... then follow me'' We witnessed the big owl ascending from its tree branch and flying off in the North-Eastern direction. ''...I think he's right, Lay'', Cloud said while already in the pose of running after Noctowl, ''we should seek a place to stay for the night. Let's come back here tomorrow'' I walked after Cloud: ''Where you think he's leading us?'' ''To Ecruteak City!'', Cloud concluded, ''it's a bit to the North-East! Come with me'' I looked back for one last time. The stone fountain and dozens of trees and park benches, stood still in this frozen place of nature. Then, I turned around once more to follow my travelling buddy.

Thank you, Marry! Also for the Fave! My original vision for this picture was a dynamic slanted shot of me and Cloud frolicking around at the park, but eventually I wanted to include some ''abandoned place exploration'' vibes in it as well, so it's kind of a mix of both aspects.
Well, y'know those scenes in films where the main characters discover a haven for them to play around in and all worries are forgotten for a certain amount of time depending on when it takes place in the film? The Land Before Time comes to my mind, but I think you can come up with another example of a playful intermezzo in a kids' film?
Ooh! You make a good point about those scenes where all the tension that has been felt by the characters can be forgotten thanks to coming across a haven. The Land Before Time series does have a lot of those. Especially in the sequels when Littlefoot and friends venture into The Mysterious Beyond.
What's really interesting is when animated shows, or films, use the time in a haven to brighten up the colors. The way that vibrant color can show safety and fun is quite amazing. Of course, the opposite is true when darker colors are used to let we, the audience, know that something not good is about to occur.

That's a good point you make there. I think that's what makes this picture I made a couple days ago, so interesting, because it is a happy picture despite being a darker colored one. Turns out the mystique of the mood I chose for it, has a side effect which just so happens to work in the picture's favor.
