Lauren Rivers, an ex space pirate turned courier and a Stellar Patrol officer Lu Ciedias Blacksailor, find themselves in the middle of a conspiracy in deep space.

Notes: A fan of Royce's since the first story of his I read, something clicked with me when I reviewed his collection of stories. It's not something I ever would have written myself nor is it even in my wheelhouse, but something just synced when I read it, and I kept reading, enjoying each piece he produces in his Red Vixen Adventures setting. The characters were fun and funny, and the universe caught my fancy.

I have a somewhat limited history with writing fanfiction. Once I tried and had such a bad experience with it that I did not do so again for ten years. I won't go into details here but suffice it to say it went badly. But here as I read the six novellas, I had an idea for where to go from here.

So with the creator's permission and a fairly good understanding of his setting and characters, I set about crafting a short story. It was intended to be standalone, not requiring the reader to have any familiarity with the universe, but if one did one would recognize the universe as presented. Capable of being ignored or canonized as the creator might wish, I wrote a story that seemed to me to address a plot thread that could lead to other things, and would fit perfectly (in my view) into what had been established so far.
