Jonathan Clarke: The American Gunslinger . He is a Former Civil War Veteran (a former 1st Lieutenant in the Confederate Army, part of the 1st Florida Regiment), and former NCO in the Papal Zouaves during the Italian Wars of Unification. After the Fall of Rome, he went back to the United States and settled out west in Arizona. There, he became friends with a Union Cavalry Officer who became a Sheriff in Prescott. After some time, Jonathan Clarke was referred by him to the Arizona Rangers and subsequently accepted into the Organization. He sets out protecting the denizens of the Arizona Territory from bandits, Comanche, and other rough criminal men.

Then, in the mid-1870's, he sets out to the Northwest Territory to find his cousin who, with a gold mining expedition, vanished in Nahanni Valley. He sets out and soon meets a priest, Father Beckett. Together they find out what happened to them. But, it was more than what he bargained for; fighting forgotten peoples, worshipers of Forgotten Gods, and creatures thought as mere myth.

Now, he's a Knight in the Militant Order of Charlemagne, a Secret Militant Order in service to the Pope that is dedicated to protecting Mankind from the followers of the pagan gods, long forgotten beings, and evil preternatural beings.
