At the start of the 1990's, the world was undergoing major changes. Following the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union, people were living more freely than before. And fear of nuclear war had diminished.
Music trends like rap were at its peak. Along with an alternate rock genre that became known as grunge. Young people, especially teenagers, embraced the nihilistic subculture with flannel shirts, torn jeans and converse sneakers, making themselves look as disheveled as possible.
But it was technology that was really on the rise. What started out as a military communication network back in the 1960's, quickly developed into what became known as the Internet.
By 1990, the Internet was made available to home personal computers. With just the click of a computer mouse, people had access to all kinds of information and as much as they desired. They themselves could also send messages and electronic mail, or e-mail to friends and loved ones.
Interest in the Information Superhighway had exploded, where it continues to grow today.
