Suspect that not too many people will like this shot. People like shots that make them feel happy. And this is not one. *smiles a bit* Even if I do think it says exactly what I want it to.
Isn't that crazy? Even when I'm feeling like crap, I'm proud of making an image that feels like crap.

I suppose it depends on what people see that they don't like about this picture.
If they see a civilization vs nature theme then yeah, not much happiness there.
If they see a prison-like building with a high, barred window then again not too much to feel good about.
I mostly see the latter, but I also see that the bars on that window don't go high enough to keep a determined person in, and the tree and its branches are tantalizingly close to the window. I see opportunity, and the thrill of the escape :)

It's a lot like artwork (the real kind)... The best pieces out there are not necessarily the kind that have pretty sunsets, flowers and landscapes... Real art is sometimes really ugly...
Now, with that said... I am not implying this is crappy or ugly. I actually like it. It's interesting how those neon green leaves are complimentary to the pinkish-reddish bricks... but don't seem to contrast as well as you'd expect. They almost blend together, which is odd to me. Just my take on it...

Sure, a good piece of art speaks to the viewer, and sometimes the way it speaks is in ways that make the viewer uncomfortable. But such art doesn't usually get many faves or likes.
Color scheme is quite intentional, I assure you. There's about two duotones and three blanket color adjustments applied to this photo. :)
