"No matter where we are, or where we go, I'll always be at home whenever I'm with you."
Elwyr as an idea spawned one night years ago when, before I fell asleep, I fantasized about what would happen if a dragon had suddenly landed in my backyard, and what would happen if I had gone out to approach them. Elwyr was that dragon, a dragon who was lost and confused having found himself transported to this human world. But, through a stroke of luck, we could communicate using the same language. I'd show him the human world, and the human world would discover him, finding he is not a dangerous beast, but instead a friendly giant. Perhaps some of his initial friendliness may stem from how obvious it would be that humans could easily overpower him, but he is one I've always imagined being good at heart. And, over time, we'd become very close friends.
This fantasy was always just a personal one, not necessarily a story to tell to others, but one for myself. Throughout the years, I would like to imagine what it would be like if Elwyr were by my side. What it would be like if he joined me in the various activities I took part in. And, I would imagine what things we could do together that I couldn't do alone.
This beautiful piece by Izak is the first one I've gotten that really truly represents the above fantasy, showing myself sharing a moment with Elwyr, resting on a cliff as the sun sets behind the mountains.
