I've posted a poll in a couple places, just out of curiosity, and thought I would do the same here. It's a bit of a choice between these two beasts. For all of the questions, the answers in the poll were "the beast by far, the beast, equal, the snake, or the snake by far," with the room-mate and transformation questions having "neither" options as well.
In my little head-canon, these two beasts aren't the big, powerful demons, but their servants, the (former) humans who worshipped them enough to take on new forms. These specimens would be on the larger size, indicative that they have both made their respective demon lord happy and that they've done so in a relatively lethal way. They exist in the grey area between being a demon and being a mortal.
At these scales, they both fit into human spaces, but it will be a bit cramped for both. They are both scaled to sizes that they are actually close to equally dangerous creatures to be around, so you can assume you are actually equally safe or in danger around either of them.
So I have some questions about them... The questions are really just about the form / species, not personality, as neither will have the canonical personality of Gil or Odon. There's no real ulterior motive to this, just curiosity; in particular, it is unlikely to impact what I spend time on, in terms of 3D model work.
1. In general, which is more overall appealing. This is neither focused on which you would want to be or be around, just which is more appealing in general.
2. If you were deep in the woods and happened upon one which appeared aggressive, which would be more terrifying. (Assume you entirely want to escape!)
3. If you were at work and one was your boss, which would you prefer to work for. You can assume neither is more or less dangerous to have as a boss.
4. Which would you have as a room-mate. Assume they are both safe to be around in this situation. This would be a non-romantic situation, and you're not food.
5. Now the romantic side: which would you snuggle with? You can either assume you met them as the creature they are or that you knew them before their change. Again, in this, you are a human. The creatures would be the gender of your preference.
6. Now the one you want! Which would you prefer to BE. It's not a temporary thing, but they are known enough you won't be constantly attacked. Assume you are equally dangerous in either and don't consider which demon you would answer to: just the species
My answer for all of these is pretty much "equal." That is actually what drove me to this; I am so equal-minded between them, I am curious what people think, particularly in different places.

Pretty tough choice! I love your hungry Nagas, but I also love how your taurs look as well! Would love to see them just as hungry as well <3
Hmmmm.....very tough choice, but I might have to go with the taurs! Naga "hugs" are amazing, but I think the snuggles with a big fuzzy taur dogman would be comfy! They just look like they'd love a good pat on the head and a scritch on the chin!

The snake is scarier without any sort of sound data - what their voice sounds like. At the same time I would probably prefer to be around the snake because snakes are pretty chill when they're not hungry.
I think I'm leaning toward being the snake than the taur, barely. I'd be concerned with how the spine of the taur works: just using a typical human lower back there wouldn't really be adequate.

I am not a fan of the excessive hissing a lot of media puts into snake's voices; while I think it may have more sibilance than a human voice, the long stretching of S sounds isn't really how I would imagine it.
When I have done VRChat avatars with snake heads, what I have done for the voice is actually have the glottis be movable and work a bit like our lips would for sounds which involve a closed mouth. It isn't perfect, but does at least explain a bit of how something with such a different mouth structure could produce human-like sounds.

Oh yeah, the physics of having a talking snake is tough. My thought was they just get a syrinx or multiple larynx system and any mouth movements are just to make humans feel better when talking to them.
So many ventriloquism pranks.
(What does it sound like? Probably kind of deep, and has difficulty making glottal noises. Some sounds may blur together.)

I just uploaded a detailed pic of the snake's mouth to https://www.furaffinity.net/view/59344375 which is more or less similar to an actual snake's. There are a pair of openings in the lower jaw: the forward one is the tongue sheath and the rear one is the glottis. The avatar's "voice" had the glottis moving similar to how a small mouth would speak. It would actually mean that he could, in theory, speak with his mouth idly hanging open, though I think he would probably move his mouth in at least vaguely "normal" speaking movements, which might help a bit in resonance of the speaking anyway.
So, what that would mean for his voice is that it probably would actually be a bit breathy and high-pitched. Despite having a large mouth, the resonating chamber would be around/inside that glottis, so would be somewhat small. There is still the larger mouth resonating cavity, and I admit, I am not sure how the two would interact to control the voice.
Bottom line, I imagine him with a breathy voice, but not one which really stresses the s-sounds way too much.

You make excellent points and I don't claim to be a linguist or ENT. I agree with your points. The problem is that we might need some sort of tongue analogue for the snake because their real tongue is busy doing better stuff. Human tongues create words just as much as the larynx and the lips. That's what I meant by an extra larynx or syrinx.
I think we won't know for sure unless we make a genetically modified snake with a larynx and sufficient braincase to learn a language (and teach it not to eat everyone). Or do an absurd amount of CFD and frequency analysis that has no practical purpose other than to win an internet argument.
(Regardless I agree the whole 'stressing the s-sounds' thing is dumb.)

1. Beast.
2. Snake by far.
3. Beast by far.
4. Beast.
5. Beast by far.
6. Beast by far.
The snake is more alien to my experiences, harder for my brain to work out just what I'm seeing and what body language its using. Interacting with it would throw me off far more than interacting with the beast would.
However, that does also mean that the snake can do things in a picture that the beast simply can't match. I like the beast more, but the snake can be more captivating when it comes down to just looking at them.

It's weird... When I am laying in bed at night, drifting to sleep, I can put my mind in "snake mode" and imagine myself as that big noodle above. I can picture myself slithering around, with the arms, with the full serpentine motion. I can also do things like dragons, either four legs + wings, two legs + wings, or two legs + arms + wings. I can imagine walking on all fours like a dog/hell hound/etc... I can imagine Gil with two legs, arms, and wings.
But a taur, my mind goes NO to. As soon as you do four (or more) legs + arms, for some reason, I just cannot shift my mind into that mode. It's kind of weird, but that is the one thing I just cannot imagine what it would feel like. I think that is actually why I do so many tauric reatures: to try and overcome that limit.

Okay here we go!
1. I'm going to say both for this one nagas are cool but taurs are odd enough where I think it would be cool to get a new perspective on things.
2. I think the taur. I the snake is probably an ambusher, so I won't even know it is there.
3. The taur. I think because we are somewhat mammal like maybe we could understand each other easier. (Also, I am slightly biased toward taurs. So, if one worked somewhere I would try to work there too.)
4. The taur think of all the home improvement jobs that they could help with. don't need to buy a ladder to change a light ever again. Also, I'm not sure how snake like the naga would be would we need to get a pen for live food?
5. The taur. All of them paws for hugs! I would assume I met them before If I'm in a relationship and it don't matter what form they are but if I could pick from the two then the taur. (I can't drive and naga has no legs.)
6. I would be the taur. As much as I like scalies it would be too different I think from being a mammal. Having to sun myself to start the day would be a drag and I already don't do much when it is cold. Also, I could hug two people at once. (also I like taurs and dragon isn't an option.)
Yup that's all for me.

what a nice write up. heres my two cents
1. As much as i love snakes, gotta hand it to a taur to be the most appealing to be around. They could give rides to be a couch to lay against (provided they let you) Lots of power in those limbs too.
2. i gotta say the taur again is more frightening, going back to the powerful limbs, nimble and agile movements and id say they could indeed run faster and catch their target quicker.
3. i cant say one or the other would be more preferrable. i reckon both would be equally scary as a boss.
4. The taur would be a more ideal roomate, id imagine not tripping over your housemates tail as they slither around leavin it behind them most of the time.
5. Romantically i gotta give it to the naga, personally i love the idea of the full body hugs a naga tail gives and probably the slick scales feel really good.
6. 100% id be a taur, give me the leggies, its just so appealing for me. cant exactly say why.
