I used to do a comic called Beatrix, about a girl who gained a suit that makes her invulnerable. The drawbacks were that it wouldn't come off and took away all her needs -- she couldn't eat, drink, sleep, or do the naughty. Bea also didn't *want* to be a superhero. There were three issues (depending on how you count them), after which I got tired of months of eye-straining work for a couple of hundred bucks. Sales were not good. I did this piece for a later promotion by the publisher, but I don't think it was ever used. *sigh* And people wonder why furry comics have all but died out.

I'm hoping that when I'm 65 -- not as far off as one could hope anymore -- that the Guaranteed Annual Income still exists. According to the info I've seen, the GAI would pay me a minimum pension that's actually much more than I've been living on for decades. I'll be able to live comfortably (by my standards) while only doing the work I want. It'll mean a lot less spooge, but *maybe* more Bea.
Uncertainties? Well, there's the issue of whether I'll be able to see or hold a pen, or just have the ambition to do new comics. And who knows what media will be available in another ten years. I have my doubts anyone will print comics on paper anymore, and certainly nobody will pay me to do it. I also doubt the means of posting on the internet will be identical to today's web sites. There may be the equivalent of web-publishers who'll pay me. Or maybe I'll just have to splure for m own site to post the stuff for free.
(@$%!! -- I've always had the unreasonable sentiment that I ought to be paid for my efforts, just like the guy I have to pay for my pizza and books.)
