(Well it's time to continue our story as I promised! So, here's what happened next...)
The coyote recoiled, but stayed on his feet. His eyes were surprised, but at the same time there was excitement splashed in them.
“Wow, you're a good fighter,” he said when they paused for a break. Jake grinned.
“Usagi taught me a lot. He and I go out to wrestle sometimes.”
Tech laughed.
“And you're trying Slam and Usagi's lessons to wrestle me?”
The cat shook his head.
“I just want us to be able to release our fatigue and tension. And you know... I think you're better than me.”
Tech choked up. How could this be? What had happened to Jake? He's a good fighter, after all, and the coyote has no shame in thanking him.
“Jake, are you okay? You weren't like this at the beginning of our fight.”
The cat looked embarrassed.
“See, I need a reason to fight. In Usagi's case, I was testing my strength to know if I could protect my wife. But with you it's a different case, and using that reason again is foolish.”
Tech hesitated for a moment. He understood the cat, but he wasn't about to let him be sad.
“Jake, listen to me, okay. Yes, sometimes you need a reason to fight, but there are times when we can fight just because to test ourselves, show a friend strength, and have fun. And the fact that you're being feisty, believe me, I like it.”
Jake, who hadn't expected this, looked at the coyote.
“You really think I need to get more confident?”
Tech nodded, letting him know he wanted to see his new mate more relaxed. Jake smiled.
“Well... Let's go for round three.”
They started attacking each other again, trying to be restrained. Their fists flashed back and forth, hitting wherever they had to, and their bodies were sweating like the cat and the coyote were in a sauna instead of a ring. At one point, Jake gaped, and Tech wrapped his arms around his neck and upper chest, beginning to unwind him.
“Space Tornado?” remarked Jake in surprise as his arm wrapped around Tech's strong chest to keep the cat off balance. “Okay, I should be able to break free! It's like in practice when Chance and I spin on the turntable.”
“Come on, Jack, you can do it,” thought Tech meanwhile. “Show me you're strong, bro!”
