Simba and Nala happened across a pleasant surprise on their journey south. Not far from their destination, they decided up to cut through a small mountain range that was in their path. Heading higher and higher above sea level, the two became witness to something that only their son Kion and Simba’s parents could claim to have experienced.
Snow.
Taken in by the scenic beauty of the mountaintops, the pair took their time walking through this little stretch of winter. Nala took the lead, her waddling gate still managing to have a level of grace to it. The lioness could hardly feel the frigid air upon her body. She was far along enough in her pregnancy that she felt more heat from within where her litter stirred than the lack thereof outside.
Simba followed behind his expecting mate, keeping eye out for potential threats and enjoying his own view of Nala from behind. Watching as her bloated belly swayed to and fro, full of life. It made his excitement ramp up the first time when she was about to have the royal triplets, and now that she was likely having even more this time, that excitement was back in force.
Seeing that her belly and backside were being ogled at, Nala slowed and let her tail whip its way under Simba’s chin.
“Simba, there’s enough beauty around us. Surely I can’t still be the center of it all while it’s snowing around us.” She lovingly chided. Nala didn’t mind being ogled by her mate, especially in her condition.
Simba chuckled and moved up beside her after her tail moved out from under his head. “Heh, sorry. That swaying is hypnotizing sometimes. Rafiki wasn’t kidding though. It’s wonderful up here. Rather cold….but still stunning. Seeing you in it makes it even better.”
Nala stopped and whirled on her flirtatious mate, a smirk spread across her lips. It was the same smirk that twice already led to cubs being placed in her belly.
“Is that so? Perhaps you care to explain.” Teased Nala.
“Well,” Simba chuckled. “It’s your creamy fur and those eyes that are as cool a color as the air around us. You’re gonna laugh, but you…right now at least, look perfectly suited to this kind of-Oof!”
Nala cut him off by pouncing into Simba, using her bulk and added weight to easily force herself the former king as his back hit the show. She’d pinned him, again. Her smirk widened into a playful grin as she leaned down towards his stunned face.
“Call me fat at your own peril, my king. Your queen can still fight even while I’m close to having your cubs all over again.” Both chuckled together as Nala leaned down and nuzzled him.
Simba chuckled and looked up into Nala eyes. “Duly noted. You know I think you’re beautiful in whatever shape your body takes, even when you don’t feel the same.”
Nala rolled her eyes. “I remember last time. I think you actually enjoy me being slow and bloated. I suppose you have a right to. It’s your babies I’m carrying.” Nala sighed and with a lean and a careful push from Simba’s chest, Nala rolled over onto her back. Now both of them looked up to the stars and the falling snow, parallel.
“It’s not just the cubs but…something about being in the snow with you makes me feel so much warmer inside. You feel the same?” Nala asked.
Simba nodded and leaned into Nala as her head rested her head upon his shoulder region.
“Yes…my best guess might be echoes of the past lingering up here. The stars are extra bright. I think I know what they’re telling me.”
“Oh?” Nala looked towards Simba’s face as he stared up.
“I think this place is where my mother and father fell in love. Rafiki didn’t tell me everything about my father’s past. I think he told Kiara more in fact…but I can’t help but feel the connection.” He confessed. Nala was left looking quite surprised but then she smiled.
“It would make sense. I remember falling in love and conceiving the triplets on a night like this…only there wasn’t any snow.”
The two lions giggled together before Simba reached his paw down and rested atop his mate’s belly. Simba sighed.
“Let’s enjoy it together then. At least for a few more minutes.” Simba said, now feeling quite comfy where he was, feeling his litter nudge and wiggle under his right paw.
Nala agreed with a nod of her head.
“Mmmmm, sure. Nobody I’d rather do this with than you, my king. I love you….we love you.” She murmured into his mane as they got more comfortable on their backs, enjoying the snow to its fullest as their hearts filled with a festive spirit.
