I'm currently working on some trades and stuff. This is my half of the trade with
isil
I intentionally left out her eyeglasses 'cause she wanted me to draw her character in a victorian style dress and I was afraid that the frames of her glasses would've been a bit too modern for this kind of a pic. (Hope you won't mind, dear!)
Despite my efforts the pattern on the dress didn't fold very well. Flowers would've looked better, but I still wanted plaids.

Ugh I feel sick...just ate my breakfast and now I want to get rid off it ;___;
The pic looks wonderful, those plaids aren't bad at all, could be worse and I think they folded quite nicely ^^
In a way I would've maybe preferred slightly bolder lines to the places of her tail where the fur is dark 'cause those kinda fade in, but the again: the outcome is a professional like <3

Here's a tutorial I found. It's not the same I learned this technique from - I think this one might be even better... Pretty simple stuff, but sometimes it works well.
And yeah, why not. A trade would be real nice at some point. =)

Roland is a gunslinger on a quest to find the Dark Tower
I want something like that pic with roses and the Dark Tower in the BG, think you can do it?

Um, how to explain this quickly?
Colour a dress on a layer of its own and add a lot of strong and deep shading with a very soft brush.
Create a new picture with a black background. Copy the entire dress layer and paste it on this new document. Convert to a grayscale, flatten and save it. You need it only once so you can name the file doody.PSD or whatever.
Return to your original painting. Create a new multiplying layer, fill it with the pattern you want to use. Now the magic happens. Choose filter -> distort -> displace. I often use horizontal 10, vertical 10, stretch to fit and wrap around. Choose doody.PSD from the file selection and the pattern will then fold around this mould.
Now use the magic wand to select the dress. Inverse. Return to the layer with the pattern and cut away the part you don't need. Adjust the opacity so that it pleases the eye, merge the layers and add some dodge tool for the highlights. Presto!

Did you draw the plaid by hand or use a pattern? It's not quite right, but it's not that off either. I like the colour. Blue!
The glowy red roses adds some much needed colour (I really really like colour :P) and the deliberately fuzzy Roman/Greek (I can never remember which) column gives depth.
That pose is absolutely classic for the Victorian styles you've used; and I really like her eyes. They sparkle :D
