After many days of planning and crafting... a Reptile Cynrik mask is finally finished! ^^
The mask is based upon a 3D model created by
painchanart
Many thanks, man! I'm so grateful that I was allowed to use this model as a base for my project.
The mask was then printed by
arooki who also helped a lot with ideas and advice!
THANK YOU!!!
And also thanks to
dreg and many other cool scalies!
Many personal thanks to Sjach, who's also an excellent crafter!
This mask took about 2 weeks to finish.
The jaws open and close when I'm talking inside the mask.
I painted it with acrylics, flexipaint and gloss finish.

H-h-h-hHHHH OOOOOOO L-Y Shit!!! Imagine the THRILL of seeing of your favorite characters come to LIFE right in front of your eyes! The attention to detail is out of this world, literally! Notice the slight goosebumps and other natural skin imperfections that are actually on the masks face, making it looks 100% convincing!
The soulful, tender yellow eyes! The shiny reflections off of the keratin of his brow ridges. The masculine, aggressive glare he is giving the audience. The scales beneath his eyes, the subtle bone structures from his nose. The separated markings of skin around his nostrils, this is SUCH A GIFT to the world of Reptile fans!
The mesmerizing smoothness of his teeth, it looks so totally professional. No detail was spared in bring his face to life. I swear, it looks made by a major motion picture studio's creature department, as if Reptile was going to be the main character in an upcoming film. He looks so real, you just want to reach out and KISS HIM....
Admit it, you've done it already! And so do we, as the audience. Man, you would dominate the floor walking into a furry convention with such a gorgeous Reppy mask! Even better, everyone would instantly recognize you as the creator of Reptile, and your fame would catapult you into super stardom. Seriously, they have furry conventions in Europe, you should take this perfect specimen for a ride on the town! Show it off in real life!
Look at those serrated skin areas near his mouth and lips. I bet you just want to trace them with your tongue, over and over, getting each peak and valley between the grooves and ridges. SWOON. You're so lucky, man. All the work and effort that went into creating such a fantastic rendition of your titular character. I would spend all day just petting the mask, feeling every nook and cranny in the detail. I wouldn't leave the house, just caress, caress, caress the night away.

It is always fun and enjoyable to read your comments... but this time it was even more enjoyable due to the fact that you didn't expect THIS kind of "art" from me!
Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of crafting... or painting... but on the other hand I've built countless WARHAMMER 40k miniatures... so I know how to build or paint things.
Anyway, when I saw a friend of mine with the 3D model of this mask I knew I had to ask him! And then I got my own mask. From that point it was clear that I had to finish the whole project and I really, really took my time with it. I went to the basement every day... always adding a FEW more details. I had to be patient with paint and glue... it had to dry over night... every day... patience was really tested in this matter!
But it was worth it and yeah... it was a fine feeling to... hold Reptile's face in my hand for the first time.
^^
I'm especially proud of his jaws and teeth... it's functional and looks cooooooooooool!!!
^^
Hehehe... if this mask was made of latex you could kiss or cuddle him pretty well. ^^ Sadly, this mask is really sturdy... and rough. BUT it's still cool!
Furry convention... do not tempt me, Frodo!!!! I dare not take it!
XD
Seriously... I might even do that... in the future!
Thankssssssssssssssssss for the cool comment!
And soon... I will submit a photo with the whole costume.
I mean... I only have the head and (!!!) his main weapon: "THE DRAGONCLAW"!
Yes, the weapon is done too.
^^
The rest is armor made of cloth and leather... but you will see.
Next project:
Tail and toes and claws!

What is most wonderful about your new mask is that it 'exists' in the sense you can reach out and touch it. Every other Reptile artwork we have, no matter how gorgeous his body is, it's only illuminated pixels on your monitor. You can't physically grasp those god like muscles, but with this mask, you CAN get one actual step closer to feeling his chiseled body!
Ah, Warhammer! Yes in fact they have a ton of gathering places around where I live for people who are into Warhammer. The little figurines look really cool, and the physical set design is amazing. I don't know how to play or that much about it honestly, but I've read articles about people who spend thousands of dollars on the hobby of playing it.
Yeah, don't forget that scintillating snow-scaped village set you made earlier, that was totally killer too. Maybe some of your Warhammer figurines can live there while they wait for you to play with them? Lol.
Wait, the friend you had with the 3d model of 'this mask' did you mean he had his own mask of Reptile that was made? Did he even tell you he was going to make it or ask permission to use the character? Or was the mask of a different character, and you were so impressed with the quality, it inspired you to make your own Reptile mask? Please clarify the order of events.
Listen to you relive your glorious moments taking care of your baby, down in the dungeon! Could it be said that this mask is the closest thing you will have to a child...? It's not unfair to make this comparison. Pouring your blood, sweat, and tears into his artistic gestation. It's not unlike raising a youngling of your own, shielding him from the horrors of society, working daily to make him stronger and more knowledgeable. Until he is ready to WEAR...
Yeah. I'm surprised you waited this long before creating a mask, this sounds like an idea that was long overdue. Have you thought about taking him out on the town at some furry convention, or wearing for Halloween this year? How would you feel if someone recognized him, and knew you were his creator just by wearing the mask? This is an entirely new frontier for you.
Like I said earlier, you must have felt like how a father feels holding his new born son. Just an indescribable rush of euphoria, full of hope and fear for the future. Relish that feeling, Dear Reppy! You've earned it!
Oh no kidding, his Dragonclaw? That sounds awesome... what a poetic name, sounds like a Diablo 2 unique assassin katar or something, haha. Seriously, you have a full set of armor with a weapon? How are you not going around and showing it in real life? Have other local friends of your seen it? You must be dying to brag and gloat that you have such life-like representation of your own character.

Well, my traditional artworks can be touched as well... ^^ BUT I know what you mean: The mask exists in 3D space!
My WARHAMMER miniatures are safe inside a glass vitrine. ^^
And yeah, my friend made the model for himself but when I saw it... I had to get my hands on it. It was the perfect base for the REPTILE mask! As you said... he created the 3D model for his own mask/character. But after I saw it I asked him if I could use it too.
And yep... it IS interesting to wear the mask and trying to behave accordingly. Right now, I try to act with the mask... training my head motion, jaws and voice.
I will wear the mask on an upcoming LARP event in Germany. I dunno if I will join a furry convention. That's why I share photos with you guys.
The "Dragonclaw" and armor can be seen in my latest photo!

I read with great interest your proclamation that you would be wearing this Reptile mask at an upcoming Live Action Role Play event in your area. I must ask, is there any chance some part of your event will be recorded on video and shared publicly? I would love to see the mask in action, especially adorned on his creator's face. This would be a religious experience for sure. Only if it's convenient, I don't want to impose on your LARP experience.
Still, the other actors there will be so jealous... and I'm sure a few of them will recognize you just from the Reptile character, you will be an instant celebrity...

It COULD be possible that some YOUTUBE account might record a few videos... but I can't say for sure. Anyway, if there are some videos... you will know it.
^^
But yes, most LARP events don't have lots of recordings... only the final battles are getting recorded sometimes.
^^
I dunno if there are some "fans"... but all the other scalies, who are in my Telegram group, know and love Reptile. That's the main reason why I constructed the costume.

Are those guys in your telegram group going to be playing with you in real life?? I would imagine they would record something, just getting that costume on video would be god like.
Yes, youtube videos would be perfect if they happen, please let me know if it gets recorded. Even if it is just the final battle, at least we have something to look forward to.

Oha, that's actually pretty close to the pictures! Looks well made and full of detail and not overly big, so the proportions to the rest of the body might just be right (a tricky thing with fursuits, it seems) :D It's definitely a rare occurence to see a 'scalie suit mask' in general and Cynrik in particular! Very cool indeed :D
How is the visibility in it? O.o
