So remember that weird little thing I did years ago where I made a bunch of diaper and ABDL themed fakemon? Well, after recently beating the Rom Hack, Pokemon Sweet, I had the idea of giving it another try (kinda).
But instead of just fakemon, I'm thinking... What if this region instead had 'altered' Pokemon? The basic premise was, something happened on the island that is the Abena Region, which caused Pokemon to 'regress' in a way, making them act more babyish and be completely diaper dependent.
They were also kinda stuck in their basic forms, with their evolved forms being altered to be an "in-between" versions of their basic and first stage evos, but never progressing far enough to fully evolve? Despite this, whatever had stunted their evolutions didn't seem to affect their strength much, and instead made them stronger!
If I do make this a thing, the three starters here will probably have three stage evos. The faded ones in the back are just me sketching some ideas down
So... Machop, Vullaby, and Cubone.
Fighting, Flying and Rock make a good type Triangle! Although Vullaby was changed to Flying/Poison so it would actually quad resist Machop instead of taking Neutral Damage. And Cubone is now part Rock! Maybe this one was raised by a Tyranitar or something.
I chose these three because, Machop's humanoid design is perfect for diapering, Vullaby speaks for itself, and Cubone has a sad orphan backstory and is in need of serious hugs.
(Diaper Mechanics)
I also have a base idea for how the gameplay would work, and it will revolve heavily around held items, in this case, diapers! All Pokemon who need to wear diapers (I might have potential plans for 'support' Pokemon who don't need them, but the ones in diapers will do most of the fighting) now have a unique ability called: BABY MODE and it goes as follows:
SPECIAL ABILITY - BABY MODE:
-If this Pokemon is wearing a Diaper, they gain 20% DEFENSE, S.DEFENSE, and HP. (Stacks with Diaper Effects)
-If they aren't, they lose 50% DEFENSE, S.DEFENSE, and HP instead, and will instantly faint to any status condition.
But gain 25% SPEED in the process.
-While wearing a diaper, the Pokemon gets a 20% SPEED penalty in any surfing battle (unless they wear a swim diaper)
-If a Pokemon faints while wearing a Diaper, it is destroyed from their held item slot.
-Pokemon can be fully healed with their PP restored by being 'Changed', This is done by interacting with any Changing
Station, and selecting a diaper from your diaper bag and then the fainted Pokemon to fully restore them.
That last one seems rather redundant... Why have this weird change mechanic when it would be easier to just run back to a Pokecenter to heal? Well, my idea is to discourage backtracking as much as possible, and to make sure you are prepped for the journey to the next town ahead, which I might consider making 2-3 times longer than in any typical game, and also much harder with tougher trainers and possibly a level cap for each gym. Making "running back to town to heal" Not a reliable option.
This adds a potential layer of inventory and resource management as you now need to actually consider the fights up ahead, along with how many, and what diapers to bring, as you can only carry 30 total. For example, lets say one of your Pokemon exclusively uses Pull-Ups, which has the following stats:
Increases SPEED by 25% and ATTACK and S.ATTACK by 30%. But cuts DEFENSE, S.DEFENSE, and HP by 20%, If the Pokemon reaches less than 30% HP, they will lose their Diaper.
Which could be devastating as you might potentially burn through a ton of them if you play carelessly. Another way to show this is by making the diapers (Especially the more powerful ones) expensive, costing $1000-$3000 EACH, So for every Pokemon which faints after one poorly thought-out battle, if they were wearing a rather expensive diaper, is really gonna hurt.
Thankfully, many areas will also have public diaper changing stations which you can use to heal your Pokemon along the way, as Diaper Changes are essentially a Max revive and Max Elixir together in one. While these can potentially be far, they will be more reliable than running back to town.
And since Diapers replace held items, there will probably be diaper versions of the berries, type boosting items, choice items, and stuff like leftovers and such. There's also the idea of replacing status conditions like POISON, BURN and PARALYSIS with TUMMYACHE, RASH, and LEAKING. And of course changing their cure items as well:
Antidote -> Relief Tablets
Burn Heal -> Rash Cream
Paralyze Heal -> Wet Wipes
if anyone knows any good tutorials for Hex Maniac Advance, maybe I could try my hand at Rom Hacking, although I don't know if I would be able to implement this diaper mechanic. I'm more of an artist, not a coder.

Neat ideas. I myself created a hybrid Pokemon https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49218635/
I do love the fun concepts that you come up with, Yip. This certainly has a lot of potential with all the different types of diapers, what they do, what they don't do, and making choices on how to properly pad your Pokemon for particular situations.
As part of the gaming mechanics, would you be able to change a diaper while in a battle? It could cost you a turn, but allow you to better adapt to a given battle you were not 100% ready for.
Would Pokemon be carried in a different way than with a Poke Ball? Perhaps you, as the trainer, can have a Pokemon riding in your backpack / diaper bag, stroller, holding hands, piggybacking on your back, etc.?
Would you get free, Basic Diapers from a Changing Station? Would you have more ways to earn money than by winning trainer battles, or finding it lying around while exploring the routes? Perhaps mini games would be a part of the game to earn extra money? Examples being working at a Pokemon Daycare, having your Pokemon compete in cuteness contests, etc.
It will be fun to see how you develop this. I really enjoyed your original Pokemon / Fakemon that you did and, no doubt, this will be just as fun. :)

Seriously? Concepts like this worked better for the Mystery Dungeon games, but wouldn't make any sense for the standard games as the overall situations are inherently stable and predictable, whereas the PMD series rooted it's success in utter chaos and lack of predictability.
There are a few select Pokemon that are universally well suited for diapers because of the pre-evolution "baby" stages like Riolu, Sandshrew, Charmander, Totodile, etc... and the natural form of certain others like Absol, Celebi, Bagon, Grovyle, and so on making it sensible to see them padded up. Other than that, it's already been tried and the results show the Mystery Dungeon concepts to be far more desirable.

I didn't think you'd actually see my comment so soon, sorry it took me a while to get back here...
What I meant is, compare your ideas to what other artists have already done, specifically
lig and
ire-k and you'll see that people prefer anthro character styles over obscure or feral ones in AB/DL art for a good reason. Dragons vs. Pokemon is a great example; easy enough to Pamper up Flygon or Vulpix, but not so much Dialga or Salamance; there are some experimenters out there who drew Giratina, Lugia, and even Arceus in diapers, and those are super weird as anything more than "art for the sake of art". Your dragon, Alice, is a perfect example of a practical dragon; very desirable in feral or anthro form, each one with or without a diaper on is naturally photogenic (seriously, your stuff made it into my long-term archive of over 4,500 other awesome works I've been collecting since 2011!). On the other end, people who make AB/DL art with dinosaurs are seriously pushing the limit of experimental designs-- with some being smart enough to focus on younger characters and smaller species physiologically well-suited for the AB/DL atmosphere, a lot of others go as far as dreaming up insanely huge Brachiosaurs and massive theropods like Giganotosaurus and T.rex, at which point any association with diapers or preschool-level activities stops making sense entirely.
Furthermore, very few would be dumb enough to try and draw padding on a ghost, snake, or birds, of all things odd, and yet there are hundreds of disturbing examples of those who have done it already. I think the only exception to this would be Latios, Latias, and certain young Pterosaur characters, simply because they're the living equivalents of the hilarious aeromorph concept. This is why a lot of people stick to animating furries.

Making Machop the only first partner and regional variant who’s typing isn’t different from it’s kantonian/main land variant is a little odd, but I like how you changed the starters’ type triangle from the usual Grass, Fire & Water to Rock, Fighting & Flying, it’s a unique approach and I really like the concept, can’t wait to see the finished version of these Pokémon soon, maybe what the other Pokémon of Abena will look like.
