Hey, fun fact! I like music! :D
To celebrate this fact, I'd like anyone stumbling across this picture to give me a few suggestions of bands/albums/songs that you'd like me to try out! You people can be my Pandora, since ugly, malevolent trolls banned Pandora from being used in Canada, the fucking cunts!
Try being a little specific! Don't tell me "All Metallica" or something, I won't know where to start. x_x Brownie points for reasons why you like it, and youtube links!

Anna Blue- So Allein. (german version of the song, way better than the english one)
DragonForce- Anything from the inhuman rampage album is good, but I like Through the Fire and Flames and Body Breakdown best.
Evanescence- I can't think of anything specific that isn't likeable but Haunted; Tourniquet; and Sanctuary are good.
Xandria- Ravenheart; Snow White; Pure
P!nk- Fucking Perfect and Raise your Glass

Ok!
I liked Anna Blue's song, it's the kind of metal-ish rock that I dig. I listened to the english version as well, and I admit the emo lyrics make me roll my eyes. She's prolly saying the same thing in german, but at least I don't understand them. :p Kinda like with Du Hast.
I don't hugely like Dragonforce to begin with. I think their songs are epic, but too long and repetitive for my taste. I know I'd get very bored listening through a whole album of theirs.
Mind giving me a link to Evanescence's Sanctuary? I already know the first two, but all I get on youtube are Angel Sanctuary AMV's set to other Evanescence songs. :p
Xandria is nice; however, the vocalist's voice is way too soft for songs like Ravenheart and Snow White. It fits better a softer track with violins like Pure. When the song is rocking, she kinda sounds like a joke.
I like P!nk's stuff in general; I think she's a happy middle of the road. I've been hearing Fucking Perfect on the radio non-stop recently, and it's a good song. Raise your glass, I'm not too sure. It sounds like Katy Perry's melodies, the lyrics are pretty mediocre, and it makes me cringe everytime I hear "Y SO SERIOUS". XD
Thanks overall! :D

I'm glad you liked my picks.
Also, sorry for the mishap. It's 'imaginary' not sanctuary. Sanctuary is for Utada Hikaru which I neglected to mention.
Imaginary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0ShYd5ruB8
tip: Listen to Tourniquet and Imaginary in succession. I think that's how it was supposed to be originally.
Utada Hikaru pics: Sanctuary (japanese and not); Sakura Drops; Kremlin Dusk; Simple and Clean (jap and not); and Colors. Traveling is also fun too. ^w^

I already owe the Fallen album, and Imaginary is actually my least favorite song on there. I find it really uninspired. ;) I really like Hello though.
As for Utada, I already listened to a bit of her stuff, and it's really not my cup of tea. But out of the ones you suggested, pick 2 and post some youtube links, I'll listen. :)

I found myself listening to those two first and now I listen to all the albums haha. Glad you like them!
Heard much about Ugly Kid Joe? I don't have any links handy right now, but I noticed above P!nk was mentioned and I've enjoyed both her stuff and Ugly Kid Joe for awhile. I'm not sure I would say the two are related, but yeah. :D

I have the Tron Legacy soundtrack, so I know that Daft Punk song. Good stuff. :)
I had heard Written in the stars before, and I really like it! It's well-produced pop, and the rapper enhances the track instead of ruining it *coughkanyecough*
I was really taken aback by Speed of light, but I really love their style! There are so many vocalists on this track, and so many different types of vocals, and it all meshes together surprisingly well! I'm gonna take note of that band. :)
Thanks a lot! :D

Ok -cracks knuckles- Time to post albums. I'll give descriptions, any that appeal to you from descriptions and examples, we shall go to the next level:
Baths. Cerulean- Electric stuff, very emotionally yearning, great listen. Here is "Animals" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swKcEG3f3GQ
Battles. Mirrored- Math Rock, very experimental. Here is "Atlas" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpGp-22t0lU
BELL ORCHESTRE. BOTH ALBUMS FUCK THIS IS GOOD POST ROCK, VIOLINS AND HORNS, SOUNDS LIKE UNRELEASED FINAL FANTASY MUSIC MADE UP OF PEOPLE FROM ARCADE FIRE IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE MORE PEOPLE SHOULD LISTEN TO THEM AND I THINK YOU MAY LIKE IT.
Gal Costa self titled album. Brazillian stuff very good. here is "Lost in the Paradise" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgaqLe_8KUw
Joanna Newsom. Ys Orchestral Harp music, long songs but a magical listen. Here is "Monkey and Bear" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDy1hNjAOrU
Owen Pallett. Heartland Chamber Pop, real queer artist, very delightful. Here's "Louis Takes Off His Shirt" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7G-cqAehehA
I have plenty more to recommend but this is just a small list of stuff. If anything strikes your fancy, let me know and I'll hook ya up!

I didn't really like the Baths track. I think it's because of the blurred rhythm, it kinda throws off. It reminded me of the less memorable tracks of Crystal Castles.
I really like the Battles track. I have no idea what they said, but the drumwork is incredible, and the track has a really nice buildup. Plus anything called "Math rock", I'm gonna be biased towards. ;) Oh wait, did that just cut off super abruptly? Damn, I hate when tracks do that.
*listens to Bell Orchestre's The upwards march, first one to come on youtube*
Ok, they do sound nice, but nothing too particular. Got any tracks to recommend?
I started listening to the Gal Costa track and I had to stop. XD I really don't like this style, this kinda retro bluesy stuff. Really not my cup of tea.
I kinda like Joanna Newsorm's stuff, this kind of medieval-sounding folk music. Not fond of long tracks, though, is all her stuff long story-like songs like that?
As for Owen Pallett, I like it without being really drawn to it. Nice vocals, nice rhythm, minimalist production. It's allright. :)

I dunno I actually like the rhythm of that track for some reason, especially the bass line's just kind of fun. Most of the rest of the album is similar to that so honestly if you didn't like that one maybe Baths isn't your thing.
The lyrics to that song are actually kind of strange, sort of about some sort of phenomenon that makes people not themselves, or people at all. TBH I don't really know exactly what math rock is but it definitely has to do with rhythm over everything else. I just like their sound really, fun listen, not all that challenging.
AHH That's like one of their songs I don't like, Belle Orchestre I mean. Their fast paced songs that sound like FF battle themes are "Throw it on the Fire" "Les Lumieres Pt 2" and "The Gaze" but one I really dig as just like a really chill, contemplative song is "Nuevo." Their first album is definitely the better of the two, works very well as an overall album.
D: But but but gal costa is fuuuun! Oh well, that one was a left field recommendation.
Ok Joanna Newsom's work is kind of a crapshoot, but I love it all. The songs off her first album are short, but not orchestral. Usually just her and a harp or a piano or in her most famous song "Peach, Plum, Pear" a harpsichord. Her second album is all story like long songs. The shortest track is 7 minutes, two are like 9-10 minutes, the opener is 12 and the fourth track is 17 minutes long. It's a rewarding experience if you stick with it. Her latest album Have One on Me is a triple LP, clocking in at an overall 2 hours and 10 minutes with 18 tracks. The songs are generally between 6-8 minutes in length, longest track being 11 minutes. Other than the titular song, the other tracks aren't very medieval, a bit more jazzy. Sad record, may be about Andy Samburg but who knows.
Owen Pallett is definitely minimalist. Good every once in a while, but not someone that I can listen to all the time.

Yeah I guess it's only fair if you guys are gonna be my Pandora.
I like regular rock and pop, punk, epic metal (not grunt metal), top 40 stuff, indie rock, bands using classical instruments, electronica.
A few bands I really like are Nightwish, Enigma, Cobra Starship, Imogen Heap, Gorillaz, Pain of Salvation, Coheed and Cambria.
I don't usually like rap or techno.

My fave in the bunch is probably Ashes, I really like how it goes. As for Dry the rain, Amsterdam and Lippy Kids, they kinda flew over my head, maybe because they're pretty mellow. As for Orinoco Flow, I already knew and loved it. It's actually a song I remember hearing on the radio when I was a kid. :)
I'm a metal head, so here's some of the shit I like.
Domine, The Hurricane Master. Really good shit, like old black Sabbath. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ao58Xcb985I
Rotting Christ: Sign of Prime Creation. Really good Symphonic Black metal group from Greece. Heavy as hell, and still musical. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jAWLF7yn6E
Immortal. Withstand the Fall of Time. Classic black metal shit. Powerful guitar work, and brutal, icy themes. Fucking love these guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2O-da4hHq4
And last, but not Least, Blind Guardian's Battlefield. Wonderful power metal written about a obscure German poem, where a father and son kill the fuck out of each other. Hansi has a fucking boss voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c98gIxCe1zo
Awesome picture by the way dude.

Domine: Love it, this is the kind of metal I really dig, thanks!
Rotting Christ: this one kinda flew me by. they're good at what they do, but not my style.
Immortal: This is the kind of metal I don't dig *chuckles* I don't really like grunty/screamy/messy metal.
Blind Guardian: I like this, I like metal bands that put emphasis on solid vocals.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions! :D

Not a prob broseph! Actually have a few more if you want. Now that I got your style pegged, You'll like these much more.
Rapsody of Fire: The Emerald Sword, Classic powermetal. luca turilli has one of the best voices in power metal. You'll fucking love them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye6YHQ8AZzU
Demons and Wizards: Beneath these Waves. Blind Guardian and Iced Earths side project. Love one or the other, you'll like these guys. Not to mention, they made an entire Album about Stephen kings "The Dark Tower" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb7JlfH_GHY
Heavenly: Spill blood on Fire. A french powermetal band with like, one good album. Their music is awesome, but the lyics make no damn sense. This ones about Satan and God dukeing it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_bJWVmbiAQ
Stratovarius: Eagle Heart. Kick ass Finnish powermetal. Strong vocals, sadly lack luster guitar work compared to some other bands. But they have really empowering lyrics, and Timo has a hell of a voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2HhJkOsFus

I've listened to Rhapsody before, they're really neat, but I get tired of them pretty quick too.
Demons and wizards are pretty good. I've heard a lot of similar stuff, but at least this is a good track. I'll keep them noted down. :)
Same deal for Heavenly, actually. Nice sound, nice thumping. Another name I'll keep down.
As for Stratovarius, they sound a bit more forgettable.
Solid selection of metal in there though. Thanks a lot! :)

Portishead: the singer does have a nice voice, but the choices of sampling and DJ scratches kinda irk me, I think it's a little messy.
John Mayer: I think he's good at his craft, but he's the kind of artist that I only like a handful of tracks from, while the rest just bores me.
Eric Clapton: kind of the same deal as Mayer. Much respect for the guy, but the "guy with accoustic guitar" style isn't mine. ;)
Adele: I love that she cracked the top 10, seriously. Chubby girl with great voice and interesting themes instead of the eternal party songs sang by skanks. Thanks. :D
Daft Punk: I think they're really good, but that they have annoying worshipping fans. *grins*
Thanks for all of these! :)

Digital daggers-head over heels
Blonde redhead- misery is a butterfly, elephant woman
Massive attack-teardrops
The academy is...-Slow down, the phrase that pays
(fun fact he appeared on a track by cobrastarship bring it snakes on a plane)
Travis-not sure you'll like it but flowers on the window makes me really giddy.
Robyn-hang with me
Kimbra-two way street/live
That's about all I can think up

Digital daggers - Pretty but a little ordinary. The vocals and atmospheric music is cool, but it doesn't really hook me up.
Blonde redhead - I think someone else suggested this band. It's kind of the same for me. It's good, but fairly usual.
Massive attack - Holy shit that House's theme song. Pretty good, but too mellow and repetitive for a 5-minute song.
The academy is... - That's a pretty dumb band name *chuckles* Otherwise, nothing really attracted my attention to the song.
Flowers in the window - It's cute, there's no denying that. ;) It's kind of "guy with accoustic guitar" style though, not my type. ;)
Robyn - That's pretty cute too. Makes me think of some softer Veronicas. Kinda elevator pop though.
Kimbra - Kind of the same deal as Robyn. Cute, talented, kinda dull. D:
Gah, fuck I'm picky. >_< Thanks a lot for your suggestions! :D

Only have a Wii so I can't link ya anything, but here they are anyway [in order of band then song]:
Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust
Junior Senior - Move Your Feet
Otep - Special Pets
The Master Plan - Spirit Never Die
Blur - Parklife
Tomahawk - God Hates a Coward
I figured you might appreciate a diverse list ^_^
Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust
Junior Senior - Move Your Feet
Otep - Special Pets

Carnival of Rust: Know it, love it. Wicked video. :)
Move your feet: It's cute and lively, old school, and I can't really put a genre on it. :) Nice.
Special pets: Really like the style there, except when they go into screamo mode. Good stuff.
Spirit never die: These guys obviously rock their instruments, but I kinda facepalmed at how cliché'd the lyrics and themes are. It's only one song though. :)
Parklife: I like it! It's rare I hear a singer with such a pronounced australian accent, but they make it work. I never listened to Blur before, and they sound pretty nice. :)
GHaC: Pretty good to headbang too. ;) I wouldn't buy a whole album from them, but it was fun listening to it. ;)
Thanks a lot!

No rest for the Wicked - by Cage the Elephant
One - Metallica
The Bleeding - get both the accoustic version and the rock version by Five Finger Death Punch
Funeral of Hearts - by HIM
Wishmaster - Nightwish
Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - Brian Setzer
I enjoy all of these songs. I think you might like them too.

No rest for the Wicked - Knew that one already. Not my regular taste in music, but a good track nonetheless.
One - I'm not big on Metallica, but I recognize they're a great band and that this is a great track. I like modern metal better. :)
The bleeding - Listened to the rock version, set to one of the most emo picture montage I ever saw *chuckles* Listening to the accoustic version now, I think I prefer it. It's a nice melody to bob your head to. :)
Funeral of hearts - It's a nice tune, but the vocals kinda mush down into the music instead of giving it more life, the singer actually sounds pretty bored. ^^
Wishmaster: I am very acquainted with Nightwish, and this is probably their most recognizable song. It's an awesome one. ;)
Eleanor Rigby: I actually sang this song back in college. I like its numbing tune and rhythm, and the equally numb theme behind it. The Beatles are certainly not in my bands, but this is one of my favorite songs from them. :)
Cat on a hot tin roof - My hair looks like this guy's right now, so happy I'm getting it cut tomorrow. XD It's a cute song, but jazz was never my thing. :)
Thanks for all your suggestions! :D

Dream Theatre- Octavarium-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH_9lJxeiXg
- Nightmare to Remember-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uK8Fg-tJis
- In the Presence of Enemies Pt. I & II-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M53hCKBqckE*
- The Count of Tuscany-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEUlsG0XVRU or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4yzYKIiV9Y The second one is the full version, first one is the drum video, which has the music, no atmospherics or six-minute interlude.
I love this band because of their song-writing abilities, their instrumental proficiency, and their long, suite-like songs. Don't know if this is your bag, but you never know. I didn't like DT at first, but they grew on me--now, I literally listen to them everyday.
*The song is not 40 minutes, it's only about 25. The video is just way longer than the song itself.

I'm glad you recommended some Dream Theater: one of my college friends was very much into it and I've always been intrigued by it, without really pushing the investigation further. So thanks for shoving my head into it.
One thing though. I hate long tracs. Hate, hate, hate. I know they're concept metal and all, but some other bands like Ayreon and PoS can be conceptual without cranking out ridiculously massive tracks. XD I did listen to the first few minutes of all tracks though, and it's good of course, but I'm usually more into the songs' vocals, so massive strumming intros don't do much for me.
Thanks either way though! Dream Theater is a good band, just not my type. :)

I quote:
" Don't tell me "All Metallica" or something, I won't know where to start."
I mean, it's fine reccomending the band, but at least be like, "Hey, Vocaloid is pretty cool, try ________ or ________, they're my favorites by them.
Damnit, I always sound rude when I read over things.

Amogh Symphony: I think it's pretty good, though I don't really hear the techno in there. Is all their stuff purely instrumental?
Augury: they have obvious skills and the extra instruments they use from time to time are pretty nice. :) I'm not a big fan of grunting metal though, I'm more into crisp clean vocals. ;)
Thanks a lot for your input! :D

Sufjan Stevens's Illinois album. Actually, pick up The Avalanche and The Age of Adz, too.
Chicago, from Illinois - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azGIf74ICmw
Casmir Pulaski Day, from Illinois - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EzeW5KoPUI
The Palm Sunday Tornado Hits Crystal Lake, from The Avalanche - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDSnWOAnJWQ
I Want to Be Well, from The Age of Adz - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO17WyaU2mE
(more experimental, this last one!)
I've recently fallen in love with Sufjan Steven's boundless creativity and use of orchestra, guitar, banjo, choir and electronic feedback, synths and beats to create overwhelming rises and falls, accentuated by clever storytelling and poetry in his lyrics. Every one - well, most - of his songs I feel stand as more than just regular songs and more like carefully crafted masterpieces.
I think he's pretty damn wonderful. But of course, a little sensitive. Not sure how you'll react to it, but if you like it, awesome.

Hey, awesome! Now I'm really glad I suggested it :) And I'm happy you enjoyed it!
I should try exploring more outside of my comfort zone; I know as a musician, I lack more breadth. I think you have the right idea with this sort of thing :)
How've your results been? Think I should give it a try?

Depends on your genre preferences, but I can throw my hat in and suggest some :3 I also mix up some songs and such on my profile if you'd like a listen.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESvYRR1Fyug - Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip is a wonderful duo that I can't stop listening to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql1Jji6uOu0 - Showtek is also quite good.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3Yc81Jj_Vs&feature=related - Akira the Don is another English songster akin to Dan Le Sac
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNWxDa_RS6c - Billy Talent is an alt rock band I've been listening to since I was in Jr. High
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-tNUur2YoU - if you haven't seen this video by Goldfish, watch it, it's addicting

Hee, it's funny to see a metal dude going around under the name "Marty Friedman", it sounds weirdly un-badass. ;)
Dude got skills, obviously. However, this kind of metal without lyrics kinda bores me, I think it's pretty same-y sounding.
Thanks a lot for your suggestion, though! :D

Much love for Muse, they're right in the range of music I like. Time is running out is actually the first song of theirs I heard. I'm gonna have to pick up another album of theirs, I think.
As for John Petrucci, that's some pretty awesome stuff he has going for him. Not something I'd buy a whole album of, but serious skills there.
When I was in high school, a lot of the guys were into The Offspring, but I never listened to them. I wasn't much into popular music back then. But I'm listening to this and I really like it. Solid punk rock going on, this is something I'd buy, definitely.
I do like A day to remember. They don't hugely stand out compared to other bands I heard, though. They're a good suggestion though, something I'd look further into, yeah. :)
Thanks a lot for your very good suggestions! :D

yeah i agree with the john petrucci comment, it is pretty intense but maybe 1 or two songs worth, not a whole album.
and the offspring i recently got into as well, it's that album rise and fall, rage and grace you should check out if you liked the links i put above
glad you liked the music, always a pleasure to help out a music lover in need!
not sure you might like this, but it's pretty good i like it but that might not count for much XD well still give it a listen you might like it too

That's my fav from the soundtrack, it has a very engrossing rhythm that makes me want to listen to all their other songs.

Allright, I pretty much listened to the first non-live songs I came across on youtube.
Tokyo - The Wombats: I really like this. They're definitely pop dudes, they remind me of Cobra Starship. Good stuff.
Animal - Miike Snow: heh, not super much my type. I usually don't like high-pitched voiced guys unless they really make it work, like Mika does.
Will do - TV on the radio: the singers' voice kinda sound like reggae, even if the music isn't, I think it's interesting. Not bad. :)
True loves - Hooray for Earth: pretty good. I like their electronic mixes and vocals. If you have more suggestions, send them my way. :)
Tightrope - Yeasayer: not bad, but not my style of music. This also kinda sounds like reggae. ^^

Ok, Album power! Gonna post a bunch of rock, metal, an punk. Dropkick Murphy's, the warrior's code: http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?v=x-64CaD8GXw. Dethklok, The Dethalbum 2: http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?v=J_aKSMG2YzI. Carbon Leaf, Indian Summer: http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?v=QuNgDMdXAlM, not a single bad song on that album. Dream Theater, Black Clouds & Silver linings, Six degrees of Inner Turbulence. Muse, H.A.A.R.P. AC/DC,The Razor's Edge. Buckethead, Enter The Chicken, specifically the song Nottingham Lace. Tool, AEnima, Lateralus, and 10,000 days. All of these are awesome, I suggest you give them a listen.
I listened to Petrucci from an earlier suggestion. He's really good but I usually prefer my guitar work with lyrics. About the same for Johnson. Great skill, not the kind of thing I'd listen to. :)
I could only find a live version of the Serj Tankian's song. It's original of course, but I really don't like the guy's voice, and I don't hear the rock and roll much. XD

Your links are fucking up, are they supposed to be playlists? :p I found my own songs from the bands/albums you suggested.
The warrior's code - Dropkick Murphy's: pretty good, lightly grunty but not too much. Are these bagpipes? that's pretty epic.
Black fire upon us - Dethklok: definitely gruntier there, not a huge fan of that. I'm a very casual fan of metal lol.
Let your troubles roll by - Carbon Leaf: country music, huh? not my style much. I can appreciate, but it's usually too mellow for my taste.
Ok, after that, I can't really make the difference between what's a band, what's an album and what's an actual song. :/ Though I can tell you I'm not big on Dream Theater or AC/DC, I like Muse, I wish Tool made shorter tracks. I listened to Nottingham Lace. That's good stuff, it'd hook me up much more if there were lyrics, because there is some real inventive stuff going on with the guitars. I don't know what H.A.A.R.P. is and it's pretty hard to look up.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions, but they were kinda hard to dig through!

X Japan. Even if you're not into any foreign music scene, they are still amazing, and about to drop a reunion album in America for their American debut. Other than thaaaat...
-Adelle
-SHINEE
-Loudness (ashes in the sky is my reccomendation)
I dunno, I just listen to stuff like GnR, Bon Jovi, Queen, etc. Nothing that nobody really doesn't know I don't think.
Maybe Miyavi (newer stuff like "What's my name" and "Gravity")

X Japan: I listened to a track, and had the same reaction that I have to most slow japanese music: I simply don't like how their voices sound. I always get the feeling they're singing with a durr face. XD
Adele: I know her hit song "Rolling in the deep", that's been played on the radio recently, plus another someone else suggested. I like her stuff, and mostly respect her for piercing into the charts without looking like a slut and having novel themes to her songs.
Shinee: hee, Jpop. I actually prefer this, this kind of fast-paced electronic pop. Damn, the more I watch their video, the more I think they're the japanese N'Sync. XD
Loudness: old school metal-ish rock, huh? Not bad, but doesn't hit the vibe too much for me. ;)
I like Bon Jovi and Queen to a point, and I don't know what GnR is. :p I can't really do a research on an acronym either.
And for Miyavi... that's gonna be more japanese stuff, right? ;) *checks* Knew it. damn otaku furfags. Well I listened to Gravity and I admit the experimental side is kinda refreshing, among the same-y sounding Jpop and Jrock I've been exposed to until now. Won't chase it further, but pretty good. :)

The Ark - It takes a fool to remain sane
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFbBwXNjYCA
The Ark is a rock band that sings a wide variety for rock from glam to ballad and even taking on a classic song or two. They also get bonus points for an openly Gay/Bi vocalist who sings about himself.

The Living End - Long Live the Weekend
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkGc1Mzl5OU
Australian Rockabilly they follow the punk ethics of adding a little social commentary into many of their songs. First time I saw them was in a music video almost duplicating Pink Floyd's the Wall, at first I was offended they had tried to ride on their coat tails till I heard the lyrics to the song (Wake Up - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVNtnZftJn4) and have been a fan since.

I'm not super impressed by the Living End, I think it's mostly because the vocals are pretty mediocre, it's obvious the guy isn't an actual singer. I like the melodic lines in Wake up though, I think it's very well written. And the use of a children's choir is really clever.
I agree, most of the punk movement followed lyrics and composition over the actual voice. Actually most music today has only good looking men and women who are average at singing, they appeal to the masses rather than actual music. That is why I like a lot of the foreign artists: I have no idea what they are singing but they have more character than anyone else.
Right now I am listening to:
German Jazz
Canadian R&b
Norwegian Power Metal
Korean Pop
Japanese Rock
And other such weird stuff.

Dream Theater: The band as a whole is amazing, but listening to a John Petrucci guitar solo is simply...scrumtrulescent.

I like Mastodon, it's one the kind of metal I enjoy. It's powerful and well orchestrated, and the vocals are very enjoyable. :)
As for Megadeth, the guitar skill are really awesome. I'm less fond of their vocals though, this kind of old-school, very nasal/throaty kind of voice.
And Iron Maiden, I would have not guessed these guys are doing metal. I know they're gods of the genre, but it sounds so much more like hard rock to me. Good hard rock nonetheless. ;)
Thanks again!

Chase and status - I actually didn't think I'd like this, but it's so hard-hitting and energetic that I started headbanging while doing my business around the kitchen. :D
Justice: another good hit here. I like the beat and the vocals, it got me going as well. :)
Madvillain - It's pretty good, but didn't hit it quite as well. I listened to "Raid". You have any suggestion of a particular song? I'd give it another try.

Batty boy - Yeah, I'm not hooked up by it, the vocals and music seem too different and not really connecting for me. :(
Danger Mouse - It's pretty good, but didn't really grab my attention. Rap isn't my thing in general, so I'm pretty selective about what I'll like.
As for Ghymkana and Tyler I like them, especially Tyler's stuff. He's more slam than rap, and I like that style.
Thanks a lot! :D

this is a band i just learned about and i loved em the first time i heard them: http://youtu.be/tq_x8Zz2RdQ
Paul Simon: Probably the best lyricist of the century. Graceland and The Obvious Child
Talking Heads: Likely the most influential band since the Beatles I think? Also David Byrne is an odd fellow with a big suit. Psycho Killer and Once in a Lifetime and Road to Nowhere
Cut Copy: Retro groove music. Lights and Music and Need You Now
Lemon Jelly: Electronic music that's just as good as a drug trip. Nice Weather for Ducks and Stay With You

Paul Simon: He does sound like he knows what he's doing, but this really isn't my type of music.
Talking heads: I like this a lot. It kinda fuels from rock, synthrock and gospel, it's a really nice mix. :)
Cut Copy: It's pretty good, solid melodies, interesting sounds. Kinda one-note through the songs, though.
Lemon Jelly: WTF LOL. But more seriously, that's some serious awesome music there, I really dig it. :D

X Clarinet Concerto - 3rd Movement by Scott McAllister: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drqf8p66FUU
You said you like rock and bands that incorporate classical instruments, so this is a bit of a compromise. This concerto--especially this movement--is heavily inspired by music from Nirvana and Alice In Chains. Also, it's just a badass piece because it requires some insane clarinet-playing skills, especially for that extremely high note at 2:40.

Concrete Blonde:
"(You're the Only One) Can Make Me Cry"
"Little Conversations"
"Rain"
"The Ship Song"
"Side of the Road" <--- THIS
These are some of their introspective pieces and the reason I adore this band long after they broke up (yes I know they reformed). Johnette Napolitano's lovely, weathered voice sounds like the hard road she's traveled as a musician, and yet very romantic and wistful even after rough decades. They have tons of good songs besides this list; these are just the ones I find the most evocative.

Still really like E-17, but I really prefer their fast, energetic songs to the ballad-like stuff, they really sound like the BSB in their slower, lovey stuff. XD Steam is awesome, and Deep... is that really the same band? :/
I kinda like Red Flag, their style is more mellow but their melodies are really nice and blend with the singing very well :)
Alphaville - Pretty good, old kind of pop rock. It's not super catchy but it's nice to listen to.
As for Daft Punk, I know them, of course. XD I like their stuff in general, but I usually find it too repetitive to my taste.
Thanks again! :D

The Fray - Pretty good, I like their style.
Fair to Midland - Like that style too, punkish rock stuff. Got more tracks to suggest?
Breaking Benjamin - Awesome band name. :D ind of the same feeling as Fair to Midland. Reminds me of Korn.
Puscifer - Not super big on the boner song, but the other two, I really like. :D
Closer (NIN) - Aha, that scandalous song. ;) That's a pretty badass track, love the buildup at the end, it's really something ^^
Thanks a whole lot! :)

Honestly, I'm not all that familiar w/ Fair to Midland. A friend had told me I'd like that song and it's all I've ever listened to by them. As for Breaking Benjamin, they reminde me lots of Trust Company.

All time low - Makes me think of Cobra Starship so much. XD I love the sense of humor these guys have in their videos, they really look like they wanna be a white geek band. I think they really make it work, I really like it. :)
MCR - Their music is really good, but not that different from other punk rock/screamo bands. I'm not super fond of their emo leitmotiv either, but at least they have a really light tone about it, which is a bit self-parodying. Pretty good :)
Boys like girls - Moar like Boys like Men, amirite, dragonboy? :D :D I think they're pretty ordinary. They're good, and I headbobbed to their songs, but right now they're just another pop rock band that I wouldn't think twice about.
Anberlin - The second link didn't work, so repost it or tell me the title. :) So far, I like it, but it's kind of like BLG. Good, but not special.
Paramore: hey... isn't that the chick who accidentally tweeted her naked tits? Awesome. XD I really like this! It rocks, and the girl sings with a lot of poise. I might pick up an album of theirs. :) Also, the last link didn't work either, repost?
Thanks a lot for all this, cutie!

I like Girl next door. It's the kind of J-Pop I can like, it's fast and instrumentalized enough so I can forget I usually don't like their singing voice. Kind of the same with WBX. However, I tend to feel like they're very samey-sounding. I don't mind one from time to time, but I'll never purchase an album or anything.
Thanks! :D
Thanks! :D
Hey stripes dunno if you'd be into any or all of this so ill add a little of everything i listen to.
Eminem-The Way I Am : I know most don't like rap that's cause they havent listened to the good stuff cause this is so musically rich, to me when im pissed i just listen to this track and it makes me feel alot better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NjEkruY5TA
Lonely Island- Were Back! : Again its rap but its just so funny. I put this next cause the last one was a little dark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N24fVEJyQKM
Esperanza Spalding- I Know You Know : I havent met alot of people with blues in their playlist but i like this song alot since shes a prodigy singer and a virtuoso at the bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-rWNAQx1ZE
Bruno Mars ft Damian Marley - Liquor Store Blues: I know Bruno Mars has been on the radio alot but i love a little rasta feel in my music and i just love this song cause its so relaxing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iBm60uJXvs
Black Eyed Peas - Were Is The Love?: Most people heard of this song but this is when the Black Eyed Peas was a legit band and plus theyre actually putting out a legitimate message instead of f*ckn around with this "futuristic cutting edge" sh*t so i find this really enjoyable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpYeekQkAdc

Eminem - I don't really listen to rap, but Eminem is one that I think I'd like. His subjects are varied and his lyrics very tight. I liked that song you linked to. :)
Lonely Island - Already sold to these dudes. Got both their albums, love their stuff. :)
Esperanza Spalding - Isn't she the chick 10-year-old girls wanted to murder because she had won best new artist in front of Justin Bieber? Geez. I think she's allright, but yeah, blues isn't my music, apart from a few songs that I really fucking love, like Leonard Cohen's "I'm your man".
Bruno Mars - I like this guy's stuff in general, except maybe the Lazy Song, which is pretty terrible. I might need to pick up an album. :)
Black Eyed Peas - I mostly heard their hits. I thought it ranged from mediocre to good. Got some more less known titles to suggest? :)
Mickey Avalon - I don't really know what to think of that. The whole sound of it is a little awkward to me.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions! ^^

Yes little 10 year old girls did want to kill her after JB lost the grammy .. thats actually how i came across her and was sold that she deserved the award.
On the subject of lesser known black eyed peas stuff i like the older stuff cause they show how great they are at rapping and breakdancing, plus they seem to enjoy themselves alot more and seem more relaxed and comfortable. Sorry for all the commentary i just really like to discuss good music ^^

Nice! I new that becoming pop sellouts, the Black Eyed Peas were more like indie bohemian rappers or something. I really like What it is and Karma (especially the clever Blondie sampling). Head bobs is pretty good, but doesn't have any real strong hook. As for the founding fathers, I don't have any patriotic attachment to the subject, so it's kind bland to me. ;)
Thanks a lot for this! :D
