Spencer is an old and distant family friend of Ruby's dad. When he heard she'd left home for Wildharde City, woefully unprepared, he extended an offer to let her stay in the house above his garage. While he hadn't expected her to bring her 'gang' friends along, he was chill with it once they started offering him weed in lieu of rent.
He maintains to his work buddies that was the end of it, but in his heart he knew it was just as much because queer folk gotta look out for each other in such a city (though it being a trio of cute girls certainly helped).
Inducted as an honorary DOGSTREET member for this generosity, he mostly leaves them to their own devices, only stepping in when they need advice or help. Trouble has followed them to his garage more than once, and every time he has been there to help with the beatdown, applying his knowledge of sumo moves to any punk that dares step up.
When not getting the girls out of trouble, he is either teaching Onyx how to cook, helping Topaz with college work, or smoking with Ruby.
Any time he is visiting, the girls beg him to cook.
He once made a curry so delicious, Ruby asked him to marry her.
