While working on a talk for the next Fauntastic convention, I wrote that ethanol could do double duty in a steampunk setting. There are examples of steam engines using alcohol or petrol as both fuel and working fluid.

This also reminded me of a model jet engine from 1949 which used the heat of combustion to generate the alcohol vapours needed. Placing the jet engine plan vertically in a slide made me think of the Kelly kettle and this lead to a model rocket powered by an alcohol-fueled pressure jet engine.
