Cheers
The first person to tell me what circumstances make consanguineous marriages a good idea will get a fricking banana sticker.
Arizona- if both are 65 or older, or one is unable to reproduce.
Illinois- if both are 50 or older, or one is unable to reproduce.
Indiana- if both are at least 65.
Maine- if couple obtains a physician's certificate of genetic counseling.
Utah- if both are 65 or older, or if both are 55 or older and one is unable to reproduce.
Wisconsin- if the woman is 55 or older, or one is unable to reproduce.
Thats all lol
I always though it was something profound.

When you're sterile are you automatically a sinner no matter what?! ^^
Christians try to make it seem. It just goes against God's command to "Go forth and multiply." and thus
homosex is a sin.
But people are born into sin so we're sinners no matter what anyway XD
It's still weird but if there is no chance of passing on nasty homozygous reccesive diseases on to the kids. Seen far too many pretty nasty ones in consanguineous families this year.
One of the Religious Right's biggest arguments against Teh Gheys getting married is that they can't reproduce. Marriage is about reproduction. What a shock that they'd have yet another hypocritical stance on this by not attacking these laws.
I kind of feel this should be a requirement for couples to have children in general... there's a lot of people in that states that are related in some way without them knowing.
Though not necessarily because of being related. Look how many people have really debilitating diseases or disorders that really should not be spread any further in the general population.
It's just a pity that you can't fix stupid.
YEAH! DOG MARRIAGE YEAH! :D
On the other hand, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland DO allow first cousin marriage.
I think you've misread this map with bias.
I'm from rural upstate NY, I currently live in Louisiana. There were more hicks and sister-kissers up north than there are here.
This is true. Just go to the Sunshine Fair in Cobleskill, and you will see just how prevalent this is.
Since I moved to NC, I haven't seen one person that I would classify as a "hick", the way I did in NY.
Fear not, stud. History is on /our side/ fuck the prudes.

Kissing cousins can marry and have retard babies - But its okay cause they STRAIT ?!?!?
But NOOOO, there can only be married swishy couples in 5 states out of 50 ?
This is dumb.

But in so much of the US, ignorance has become a political bloc; so much so that sheltering your child in your house and raising them full of hatred stewed in intolerant religion is passed off as 'family values.' There are concentrations of these kinds of people everywhere, but it seems that it gets denser the further south you go. Maybe it's that the abundance of open land and higher instances of rural populations form the kind of culturally sheltered petri dish where the fungus of bigotry can fester; maybe when you get enough people close enough together saying 'It's our right to turn our kids into hateful zombies!', then that's just what they're allowed to do- Because if you get enough horrible people together, the country has to bow to their whims because that's how a democracy works.
And, again. There are intelligent southerners. There are intelligent Christians. There are intelligent Republicans. But they're so drowned in a sea of people who so wholly embrace the stereotypes of intolerance and xenophobia that it becomes easy to overlook them; like if someone were to drop a boulder on your face and say 'I think there's a bit of gold dust in that somewhere.' I can respect the good people of the southern states, but I cannot respect those states as a whole until those good people rise up and overthrow the bad; when it becomes unacceptable to teach one of many religions in schools as the truth while simultaneously denying kids the right to feel welcome and wanted no matter their sexuality... When people are no longer beaten and maimed over their orientation... When the kind, intelligent, tolerant people of the south finally stand up and say to their politicians "We're the ones you're going to listen to, not the hicks!", that is when I will take the south as a whole to be a positive contribution to the US's social and political fabric.
But for the time being, all I can picture it as is a ball and chain holding back more reasonable regions of the country. Not the only region, but one.
They were all almost killed, even with camera crews staring around with them.
Now, the humorous thing about all this is that, when I lived in Virginia and worked in a garage, probably one of the the most homophobic lines of work you can get into, someone found out I was gay. And he told everyone there. Nobody really cared. It turned into a sort of a running joke.
I can't really try that up here. I made an allusion to dicks a while ago, and it didn't go over very well.
Jokes aside, intolerant bastards can be found all over the world. Racist party got into parliament in my home country. You let your guard down for one moment and this is what happens!
Make no mistake, a governing body will not give up power once it is attained.
welcome to Earth, where we have porn, super center stores, pollution, dying wildlife, ass-backward governments, and limited space travel. enjoy your stay!
its the fossil fuels we're burning to continuously produce the means in which to create parts and enough things to use material-wise towards building more and more craft. the machines we use will soon be unavailable for use unless powered electronically. pollution is becoming too great
For instance, did you know they are now making plastic bags out of corn, and fuel from algae?
though we need to seriously start recycling period, and get rid of landfills altogether. i know this is kind of not the topic you'd expect to be taking place (especially on this post) but they are valid points to consider
That might just be the incentive for more people to care about recycling.
Or make it a national program, with the same redemption value everywhere.
we let anyone marry, why not =p
Methinks that lower map says more about the whole states' rights platform than any social fabric.
Just because you have a hangup about it doesn't mean they should have there relationships banned. Indeed, you're engaging in the exact same sort of intolerance as people who oppose same sex marriage.
When two gay people get married, nobody is harmed, except some gay-hater's sensibilities.
When cousins or siblings marry, and possibly have a kid, then that innocent child might suffer as a result of that union. There is a rationale for being against sibling marriages, even though I must admit to tasting a bit of that cousin sugar when I was a kid. (Mom, if you're reading this, just pretend I didn't say that.) :0

And everybody in the middle east is stupid as a mud fence. And the only thing they're good at is being cruel to one another.
Nuff said.
Want to marry your horse?
States that allow transorder marrage: 0
At least it's slightly better outside of America. Most NATO countries at least allow or recogise civil unions.
Besides, calling the legal proceedings marriages is a potential violation of the establishment clause, as marriage is historically a religious institution. I know that's not ironclad, but that's how it's been for a long time.
