Here are two pictures of the damage that was caused to my dad's motorcycle after I crashed it.
The right side of the bike shows mostly cosmetic damage, the left side is untouched. The mirror is permanently bent in that position, the fairing is scratched, the exhaust pipe is scratched and bent against the rear fork of the motorcycle, the footpeg is gone. There was a Givi trunk on the bike that also got some scrapes but nothing horrible.
I also put a picture of the helmet I was wearing as an example of what could have been my face. The lens is not cracked, just scratched to hell and the joint on the left side is broken. Let me just say this, if I wasn't wearing the helmet I wouldn't be alive at the moment because the first impact of my head with the ground would have killed me right there.

Damn dude! The helmet is more shocking than the bike! I cannot fathom how all the bikers the do not wear helmets justify not wearing one. Im sure its, this will never happen to me.
I wear waterproof military boots, waterproof padded motorcycle pants, padded jacket (waterproof liner), 65 dollar Olympia gloves with carbon fiber knuckle protectors, and a HJC helmet just like the one in your picture....only newer. When I wear all of it including the optional liners for winter or rain, I feel like I am wearing a space suit, but I know I will suffer little harm in minor accidents and it will save my life if worst come to worst. Military requires me to wear a reflective vest, so people keep thinking I am a police officer when I walk in. Its humorous.
Im glad your alive man. The world is a better place with you in it.
