Man, another amazing illustration of the tale!! You really surpassed yourself with this one x3! So many characters but we can see they perfectly! When we think on the zodiac we kind think on really powerfull creatures, so its also a amazing subversion of expectation to see (almost) all of them all bound and helpless like this! And they are all gagged too!! Not even this simple right the zodiac have xD! My favorites definitely would be the bull, the tiger, the dragon, the monkey and of course the small and cute angry snake in the end xD! Once again I am impressed with your work Me Lord!!

What kind of revenge does the cat have in mind? Cat scratches, constantly meowing so they get no sleep, leaving each one a hairball in their cell beds, tickling, etc? That Rabbit better rub his feet for good luck.

Good ideas allready. Maybe gnawing at the rat´s tail, poking with a twig into the pig´s belly button, pulling at the monkey´s tail and the tiger´s whiskers and the rats ears, giving the dog mercilessly bellyrubs with sudden interruptions, feed the horse chocolate to make him high like he would be on drugs, shave the sheep, ripping out one of the rooster´s tail feathers, poking into the dragon´s nose or pull on his whiskers (and now I realize, that I have forgotten to draw them *facepalm), tickle the bull until he moos and knotting the snake to a thin stake like Prince John had done with Sir Hiss.

I recall a finale episode of Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness where a Siamese Cat Sorcerer, Pang Bing, captured many Kung Fu Masters of various Animals (the Furious Five included) and she planned to use a special hypnotic enchantment to force them to kill the young Emperor and Po ... looks like they probably took inspiration from the same story too.

And it is most likely, that they took inspiration from the novel. Since the second Kungfu Panda movie, Dreamworks worked close together with China in this series, after all what I have heard.

Still a shame Mike Mitchell tried to write Tigress and the rest of the Furious Five out of the Franchise as a money-saving tactic but luckily the Animators and Advertisers pushed back on it.
1) They're cartoon characters, get new voice actors/actresses along with the original's blessing.
2) A simple scene could have helped out the movie: Po accepts early on he needs to pass on the Dragon Warrior Title but realizes he can give the Title to his Best Friend Tigress as she both is a hard worker and feels it would make up for the past when Oogway was pointing at her only for Po to fall between them. To his surprise she declines the offer as she no longer wants or needs the Title as she wants to discover what she wants. After accomplishing solo missions she and the Five will become Grand Masters thus now free to achieve their own goals. Ex: Viper wants to take over her Grandfather's role as protecter of her village, Crane takes over Lee Dai Acadamy alongside his old friend Mei Ling the Mountain Lioness, Monkey seeks out troubled youths to redeem as Oogway did for him, Mantis becomes a traveling acupuncturist warrior looking for love, and Tigress has become a wandering warrior also attempting to achieve her inner peace by tracking down her origins before returning to Po's Side and possibly taking over as the New Caretaker of Bao Gu Orphanage. That would also mean finding a new Furious Five to take over. This makes Po's choice for successor harder to make. (Even Po reading a letter written by the Furious Five outloud would need no extra voice actors)
*Mike Mitchell even scrapped a sidestory of Shifu being Kidnapped by Chameleon so at the end he and Tai Lung would part ways on better terms as Father and Son allowing Shifu to move on and be a better Father to his Daughter Tigress ... really, Mitchell? 🤦🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

To be honest, there was no deeper meaning behind the ranking of how they are leashed together.
Tiger, horse and dragon are positioned a little in the backgrond and walking in a separate row, because otherwise I couldn´t draw them all on one sheet of paper^^;

Though is it wrong of me if I kinda imagine an aftermath scenario, where after the cat yaoguai seemingly gets her revenge on all of them, and the deities (including the 12 zodiac deities) are later rescued by Wukong (with the help of Budai, if I recall correctly) after spending some time in the dungeon, the 12 zodiacs (menacingly, or mostly teasingly) now look over at the cat yaoguai, who nervously smiles at them while awkwardly shrugging her shoulders going:

"Umm, soo.. no hard feelings, boys?~ Miau?~"
