yeh the are adorable but where did he come from is the bird protected.
I have seen a little young bird crying ans fussing because they where switching her from mash to dry pellets.... less preparation for them but the parrot wanted the Heated mash
Apparently you have to give them one or the other can't give them a mix they will apparently get crop rot witch will kill the bird

He's local-bred, and perfectly fine. Green-cheek Conures aren't a protected species.
You /can/ switch them on and off food by mixing it-- but you have to wait until they're old enough. Parrots don't wean young, like dogs and cats do. Six-seven weeks, a kitten or puppy is eating dog-food. Parrots can go upto twenty-weeks on the formula mixes.

so this macaw /African green I saw at pet smart was too young to be weened.
he looked like he.... whate he had some pin feathers under his main plumage.... he might have been way too young... THEY SENT HIM TO THE STORE WHEN HE WAS TOO YOUNG? and still Suppose to be on Formula?? that is not cricket...
anyway I found that keeping a Dog or Cat with here mom for 12 to 14 weeks and the Dog or Cat seems more well adjusted unlike 4 to 6 weeks they are too young to even Walk on there own in some breeds dogs or cats.
I have helped raise puppy's and kittens so I know they are better when there Parents teach them manners.

Some breeders aren't responsible. They crank out baby-birds and expect everyone to be able to hand-feed them. Most have no idea how.
As for staying with their parents-- Parrots and other birds are taken from their parents at 3-4 weeks old, because if they're raised by the adult birds, they won't want much interaction with humans. It doesn't do any lasting mental or emotional damage to the birds, I assure you. That being said, hand-feeding doesn't guarantee a social bird. The amount of time you hold them, and play with them, does that.
