Wie Sun Wukong aus dem Kerker flieht
Whenever in Journey to the West the pilgrims encounter a yaoguai, it usually ends with captivity and bondage for a while, before Wukong manages to help them. In one occasion all of the pilgrims are tied up in a yaoguai´s dungeon, but Wukong transforms himself into a fly and slips out of the bindings, then he conjures a doppelgänger and ties him up to fool their captors, so that he has time enough to look for a means to eascape for all of them.

Doppelgängers are always very useful! They may be the most basic bitch thing, but it's not the tool itself. It is how you use it.

I knew the word is originally german, maybe not the transliteration which I do like knowing! Either way I am happy to know that I was right with a translation from Japanese to German! Or from Japanese, to English, then to German.

The chapters in the novel follow the "monster of the week" trope, only exception is the encounter with the Bull Demonking and his brother in an earlier chapter. They have a chronological order.
If one would make a tv series about the novel (there are, but some are of less quality), they still would need to follow the book and add pieces of character development to it in a rather modern storytelling way, so that it would get a coming of age style.
Funny thing, that the yellow wind sage rat yaoguai is also one of the boss enemies in the book, giving Wukong a hard time.

Oh I'm sure it could be done - they would even have 'filler' episodes with the more separate adventures or outliers like that if needed. I would imagine something like there would be a main art style or studio for the start to finish adventure and then other studios with their unique art styles could do those more side adventure things. Could be a fun thing all around :)

Imagine a society where bondage was the norm.

Ex: when taking a taxi, the driver handcuffs the passenger before beginning the journey.
Or when staying overnight with friends, the guest is chained up during their stay.
