The first from a batch of fun little commissions based on the Bayeux Tapestry (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayeux_Tapestry) that I made all the way back in 2020. This one was for Ouskie the husky, whom I can't find anywhere anymore.
They were all quite simple in concept, taking heavy stylistic inspiration from the source material; so if you familiarize yourself with it, you will understand why it looks like this. Sometimes I jokingly called them the "HIC EST" commissions, due to the latin text - it simply means "HERE IS", and is used throughout the Tapestry to introduce important figures. Most of the text on the tapestry is either those character introductions, or short descriptions of the most important events portrayed.
The frame in this one is simple, and attempts to imitate some decorative woven embroidery. The gear the character is wearing is either directly adapted from the portrayals in the Tapestry itself (mostly the armour) or stylized to fit in with the rest of it. The animal bits were inspired by a site I had found and had been using for a while now, The Medieval Bestiary - https://bestiary.ca/index.html
These were all simple and fun to make, but I was and still am most proud of the imitation embroidery.
