In my mind, I see Snails running away, getting lost in the darkness of the Everfree Forest- only to run into someone most unexpected. He's lost, scared, confused and haunted. The dark mare speaks softly, reassuringly, letting him know he's safe, letting him know that those that abused him will be trouble.
But is he safe? Is the dark mare truly concerned for the colt's well-being? Or does she have darker plans for the unfortunate foal?

Yeah, I know, it is a bit sad. Putting Nightmare Moon into the mix was something as point to both of them. On one hand it could be seen as an "out of the frying pan and into the fire" situation. On the other hand, it could also mean "Even villains have limits to what they will tolerate.".
I see it as a double-edged thing- On one hand, Snails now finds himself with someone who he doesn't know and who is extremely powerful. On the other hand, Nightmare Moon is now having do do something she isn't used to- comforting someone in a dark situation. It could go bad or it could go good.

And it was the mane cast. That's just not right. That edges into the "Princess Molestia" realm. Now, granted, I like Snails is a little herp-a-derp knothead, mostly influenced by Snips. But he deserves better than that. His gangly awkwardness will pass. Or he'll just remain adorkable.
I do sort of like the idea of him becoming her little minion dude. As demonstrated with Trixie, he makes a good sycophantic servant. And yeah that linked pic is quite cruel. Not really just for the implied molestation, but for the cruel talk about Snails being retarded.
