For various reasons of tech and format, in 12 years and change, GW2 really hasn't fleshed the character of the Pact commander -I ain't callin' em the wayfinder- beyond the small pieces strictly necessary to progress the story. The whys and hows are honestly an entire essay's worth of content. Suffice to say, sometimes it feels like "our" (read, the player's) character is going through fractal recursion, and playing the role of the commander the way that say, Will Smith the actor plays Will Smith the character in The Fresh Prince.
So this picture has been rattling inside my brain for a while. It's set on 1329 AE, in Tyria-98905 (One of the eleventy thousand million versions of Tyria. Mist-mutliverse!); the pact commander brings their cub Tibs along to Tarir, where he quickly bonds with the newborn dragon Aurene. Some would question the wisdom of bringing a cub to an active warzone instead of... y'know, leavin' 'im in the Fahrar with the other cubs, but after what happened to his father, the Commander has a bit of a separation anxiety issue to work through, and isn't letting Tibs out of her sight if she can help it.

The background is just a simple drawover of a screenshot of the Egg Chamber in Tarir.
