After spending ten years serving as a diplomat and ambassador of Human/Sek relations, Coon returns to Narmu to serve out the remainder of her service with the Avatian military, serving as a soldier under Paaska. Once her enlistment is done, she runs for a seat on the Sek Council, seeking a minor role in their government, fully acknowledging that she is an outsider, no matter how official her 'honorary sek' badge may be.
Upon retiring she opens a brothel after the fashion of the one she heard about in stories told by her ancient friend Yari. She honors the Sek by nurturing and teaching their children in the ways of her people and the rich history she's been privy to.
However, Narmu is not Earth and its star isn't Sol. After a time living under this alien sun, it comes to pass that she develops cancer. As a human, her lifespan is already easily double that of a normal Sek's, and she's outlived most of the Sek she knew at the start of her career. Rather than seeking treatment, she opts not to prolong her life and disappears; secretly heading to a Thannid engineered paradise world to live out her final days. The planet recycles her body when she passes, leaving not a trace behind...but her impact as a figure in Narmu's early history endures as surely as the ageless Su'Ri who called her 'friend'.
The End.
To make sure there aren't any loose ends when I leave I'm tying up the stories of each of my characters and retiring them, starting with Coon Surya, my oldest. I created her to be my opposite, to explore the furry fandom back when it was a secret shame I didn't want anyone knowing I was interested in. I figured no one who I happened to know would recognize me in her. As a character she became incredibly flexible and developed her own personality over time. Eventually I became comfortable enough with the fandom to openly identify as her, but she isn't me...she never was. The older I got the less I used her as a representative character; a deliberate choice as it was becoming awkward to justify identifying as a female character while professing to be cis and straight. She taught me a lot though, about what the world is like for women. She was a stronger person than I am. She had goals...a potential that I never did. She represents my directionless drive; it's much easier to manifest our destinies in a fantasy world, where the future isn't taken from us. There we can pretend like the things we do actually matter.
Coon is shown here wearing a Sek combat uniform giving the traditional salute of Avatia. The red lapel signifies she's in the Army equivalent branch of Sek military.
